Hudson's back, but only in the ressies

Postby Wedgie » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:59 pm

Norths sides for this week thanks to The Roost:

League:

F Kaesler Hargraves M.Campbell
HF Perrie Alleway Younie
C Ryswyk Krieg Bamford
HB Walker Schubert Ivens
B White Koops McIntyre

Ruck:O'Hara Gill Ladhams
Interchange: Down Edwards Coulter

In: Coulter
Out:Howard (ankle)

Ressies:

F Wakelin Wundke T.Motlop
HF McGahey Sheridan Martin
C Moritz Pfeiffer Millar
HB McEntee Gregov Cunningham
B Cubillo Haseldine Hardy

Ruck: Hudson, R.Ebert, D.Ebert
Interchange: Nye, K.Thompson, Brown

In: Wakelin, Hudson, R.Ebert, McGahey, Hardy, K. Thompson.
Out: Coulter, W.Thompson (ankle), Starke (college), Christie (college), Cheetham (concussion), J.Campbell.

Christ, I pity the poor Norwood ruckman that has to go up against Huddo and Wakelin!!! Should be a great battle as Norwood are top and North are 2nd in the ressies.

Our reserves have been travelling well but have a tough one this week. Minson will do most of the ruck work, he's on the Power list but still only 18 so is in for a tough Saturday.

It just goes to show the awesome depth of our great competition. I doubt players like Minson, Hudson and Wakelin would be running around for Sandringhams 2nd side.

On a good note for Norwood, Howard is out for his first miss this year and Wintle still isn't back, 2 of our prime movers in the middle of the ground, Gatto's not far behind those 2 in the middle and he's still out too. I can see Norwood getting it out of the middle more often than not on Saturday, should be a ripper.

Im making a big day of it hiring a mini bus to go out there and back as my daughter's bringing some friends (its her 10th birthday tomorrow).
Every dad should do what I do, take more of their friends kids to an SANFL game when its their birthday!

CA, don't be a stranger on Saturday.

I'll see you there Wedgie. Do you see North playing the four talls up forward?

I just don't see Norwood being able to match the firepower up forward that North have got. Plus Matt Campbell always cuts us up. Thomas is out for us to the Power and he has been playing well. Hopefully Bown is back then perhaps him, Gibson, Zorzi and Duigan can take the four North talls. Cockshell and Vlatko then can play up forward. We should have a slight advantage in the ruck and like you say perhaps on the ground with Howard out.

I hope it buckets with rain, might help us a bit. It could be a long day.

Probably not but I depends it comes down to a definition of talls is.
Alleway and Gill can both play as a ruck rover sort player, Gills actually been named there, as both players are so good on the ground.
Gill played that roll to a perfection last week and was in my best 3.
I'd only regard Perrie and Hargs as traditional talls in our forward line.

Interesting selections for the Crows, no Perrie and hentschell straight back in with Bock ommitted.

I rate Perrie above both of those two, so maybe he has a bit of work to do yet...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yeah it would be fitness reasons, hes only played one league game and a half in the ressies. On this years form i'd have hentschel as the more important player than perrie however.

Hentschell is a better player than Perrie 1980TM. No offence to Perrie but Hentschell has a lot more talent.

ha ha that's fine, it was actually (kind of) deliberate, well I knew I what was doing. You'll find some of my posts missing apostrophes as I have trouble with that key on my keyboard, sometimes it works, some times it brings up a bloody search function. Got a few issues with my PC at the moment that need fixing.

Wakelin

Postby offensive_Line » Fri Jul 28, 2006 2:46 pm

Mr Wedgie,

Any news why Wakelin is in the ressies?

Down played okay last week against a well seasoned Maric but is there any method to this madness?

O'Hara wants the ruck to himself or he'll move to another club...

 Actually it would be ironic if Hudson was in form, and forced to stay at NA for the season becuase of opportunity. He would have to do most of the ruck work wouldnt he? What would OHara's role be then? Forward pocket? Dont think so - giving Hudson a rest every now and again. In fact he would end up playing a lesser role at NA than he did at the Eagles.

I have always been impressed with Wakelin, and felt a bit dissapointed for him when O'Harra was recruited to North as despite some opinions deep down he would have felt like perhaps they didn't have 100% faith in him. He was dropped last week but then didn't play ressies as he was sick. I would have thought he is a better option than Down although if its only ever for 5 - 10 mins a quarter you can get by. I would have thought from a North supporters perspective it would be dissapointing if Wakelin doesn't get back into the team and they win the flag, plus he is a good bloke and even during his junior football days always gave 100%. Then again if they win the flag they won't care but he deserves to be there.

By the sounds of it Jarman is not totally happy with the 2nd ruck spot so might be experimenting a bit at the moment and also giving Wakelin a couple of full games in the reserves leading up to finals.

Quite simple, Wakelin didn't play last week due to illness.
Its pretty hard walking straight back into North's league side these days.

Wakes is found lacking around the ground at times and young Matty Down has deserved his chance for showing a couple of other past reserves players how to bide your time before spititng the dummy. Budgie (O'Hara) has been great all year and he's impressed me with some of his attacking handballs that have set up goals which I didn't realise was a part of his game.

Also with Wakes and Budgie sharing the ruck all year its probably got to the stage of the year where you want to give both of them a longer run to keep their fitness up which can't be done if they're in the both team.

Maybe Josh Coulter mentored him?

I'm sure Grocke is looking forward to the finals matches against North as well. :D

Adam enjoys every league game he plays and hence why he was keen to join the Eagles when realising he didn't have a chance at North.

Probably unfair comparing a CHF to a Ruckman with the varying depth we have in each of those positions though.
Grockes had to rely on about 4 injuries where Nick Heath would have only relied on 1 injury to push for a league spot.

wedgie and other North supporters whats your opinion of the CHB in the ressies Gregov?

went to school with "Sini" and got on well with him but i was shocked to discover this year that his football talent is good enough for reserve standards

what i mean is he had good skills but i didnt think that they were "that good"
