Yeah you're right topsy, but to lose finals, you've actually got to make the finals in the first place. And from my recollection, our recent finals appearances also include a Premiership in 1999 (remember that one?)

Recent and 1999? Hopefully this was ironic.

Norwood, both the club and the fans, have finally realised we've been merde for too long. Sounds like your club still has a way to go if you're anything to go by.

I live my life with a glass half full mentality, that's why I'm successful. I have the same expectation from "My Club". Over the last few years we've been kicked from pillar to post and everyone has reveled in it. Most lesser clubs would not have survived, but not Port Adelaide. And now we are building back to our rightful place... at the top!

Sadly for you, most people don't care about the Magpies any more so the whole 'us against them' schtick doesn't wash. Beating Centrals is where it's at.

Revelling in beating Port is so last century. :D

In the interests of the whole staying on topic bizzo, Norwood to finish around where we did this year. The lack of a meaningful Plan B, and a fairly shaky Plan A for that matter, will see us oscillate wildly between heartbreaking genius and teeth grinding ineptitude again.

Yes nothing like getting back on topic, after having your rant against Port Adelaide, a club that you care so little about.

Centrals are a passing fad, with their success happening during a time when the real SANFL Powerhouses were languishing, both due to mismanagement, lack of finances or both. Equalibrium is now returning, with these clubs, Port, Norwood, Sturt, Glenelg, North, and now Central District returning to regular finals action.

There are 2 types of football supporters. Those who barrack for Port Adelaide, and those who wish they could.

Tell me why? You can only beat who you beat, and there's nothing wrong with that. But the fact remains, after beating Westies and the Eagles in Grand Finals, when the first of those Powerhouse clubs, Sturt hauled themselves back up off the canvas and got their act together, they won.

I included Centrals in my list, just don't expect to have it all your own way from now on.

Fine, Port Adelaide for Premiers in 2009. Seriously!

Why Port won't be premiers in 2009

A serious rebuttal by Topsywaldron

1. Centrals are still in the competition
2. Hamstrung by finances that doesn't allow them to compete with Norwood and North for recruits.
3. A lack of pace through the midfield.
4. Too reliant on an elderly forward line with limited goal kicking power
5. Ginever still seen by many to be a one dimensional and unprofessional coach
6. Jeremy Clayton not getting any younger or less injury prone
7. Matthew Lokan. Enough said.
8. The shattering loss of 'winning aura' that happened in 1998

Need any more?

1. make the top 3.

2. Win finals and make the GF.

3. Win the GF.

Funny you should talk about not being able to beat those "powerhouse clubs" what about this year? What happened to Port in the 2000 QF? 2005 2SF? Hell, if Port couldn't get within 10 goals of us in the 2001 and 2005 Preliminaries, I suppose you would still believe that Port would have won in the Grand Finals of those years anyway? Sounds like you are a bit jealous about the current success - it's either this or the "you couldn't do it pre Crows" line. Interesting that these so called barbs seem to come from Port and Norwood fans - not everyone, those who say it.

Well it is true - you haven't really achieved anything UNTIL you beat Norwood or Port in a Grand Final. Wether you like it or not, these 2 clubs were, are and forever will be the only two clubs that matter in the SANFL, so get over YOUR jealousy and accept it. That's how simple it is.
