Very interesting quote.......... because I know they were not linked to GSFL clubs anyway and they definaltly were not signed, sealed and delivered at the Blood and Tars either......

They had been approached actually by at least two GSFL clubs that I know of, so it is good to hear they signed on again at Jervois. May mean though that one very very good GSFL player may be leaving his club to play with them....

never said they had signed

Thats been a big mystery to me (and a lot of other RMFL followers!!) as someone who's followed the RMFL for over 20 years now. I've asked Jervois people over the years and they didn't know exactly themselves where it came from. I think there are a couple of farmers in the area, plus one or 2 wealthy Murray Bridge businesses with Jervois connections. Jervois has their own website now, so if you follow this link, you can take note of their sponsors http://jervoisfc.com.au/sponsors/

I remember in the late 80's/early 90's they recruited about 4 or 5 ex SANFL players, including Max Parker and John Roberts, didn't do them a lot of good though. The last 5 years they've recruited a lot of quality, but instead of ex SANFL stars at the end of their footy careers, they've tended to go for some fringe standard League players in their early/mid 20's, as well as quality players from other leagues, mainly the Southern League, and a bit from the GSFL as well.

I am going to ask probably a dumb question here then 8-[

So what does that mean... the GSFL go out and ask the clubs who they are supporting... or... do they just send along a representative/s from each club and they vote that way on the night.... and you've just 'heard' Toughcall that Goolwa will be supporting Lucas??

TC our first committee meeting was on Thursday night and the league presidency was not discussed, personally I dont know who is running but I couldn't imagine there would be any wholesale changes. We are happy at the moment because we finally get a home game first up v Yankalilla providing the draft gets formal approval.

My latest mail is that the vote tonight will come down to the Myponga and Yank vote's, all other clubs have shown what way they will be voting with these two clubs still to decide.

For those who want to know the odds.

Herman - $2.00
Gordy - $1.40

I have had a talk with them BJ but still very unsure what 09 will bring for me, it's only November so plenty of time to decide and after the weekend just gone we could have a car load go upto Loxton on weekends.

Re The GSFL Presidency.
Just like clubs it is sometimes hard to find a President for the Club.
In the GSFL this year the current President is Herman Lucas and I am pretty sure for the last few years he has been elected unoposed.
8 or 10 weeks ago Gordon Tonkin made it known that he was going to run for President.

Since then both he and Herman have been canvassing clubs to see which way they will vote.
I believe there is one vote per club.
The way I see it
Herman has the support of
Willunga, McLaren, Encounter Bay, Goolwa and maybe Compass

Gordon has the support of
Langhornes, Strath

Not sure about, Victor, Yank and Myponga

I thought Bays were voting for Tonkin. Surprised with Saints as Lucas has always had it in for them. Actually had it in for anyone but Willunga!

How accurate is your mail on these votes Magoo?
I was told Herman had Willunga nominate him and either Goolwa or Compass second it, then Gordy had Strath nominate him and Victor second him leaving Creeks a certin vote for Gordy. Last i heard was Bays to go Gordy, Goolwa unsure, Compass Gordy, Yank ??, Myponga ??

does it matter who wins? what will the drastic changes be? what are tonkin's policies and what would they entice a club to vote for him?

So teamwork, now Loxton are on your agenda. By my count that is 47 clubs after your services. After only managing 5 games in 2 years must be the snag in negotiations.

No mate just had a good weekend with a few lads in Loxton, playing footy was never spoken about actually. Just a joke between BJ and myself mate. Only 47 clubs, I am still 10 behind you and 6 coaching positions then! 5 games in 2 years is a good effort I thought. I was fit and ready to go last year and it was disappointing not to play all year but if I do choose to go play with a few other lads it leaves me as a 0 point player.
