what did they win ? what was the award ? etc

sp, just for those like me that haven't read anything how about putting up a few details in future please
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

On another footy forum I read it's usually: "did you see the back of the Herald Sun? OMG OMG OMG"

The SANFL last night held it's West End 2008 Media Awards in a marquee on AAMI Stadium...

I was lucky enough to be in attendance and it was a great night, the highlight being LifeFM winning the "Best Commentary" award...


Here are the award winners from the night:

Best Print News Story - Michelangelo Rucci (The Advertiser)

Best Print Feature Story - Ashley Porter (Independent Weekly) & Andrew Capel (The Advertiser)

Best TV Interview, Feature or News Report - Mark Soderstrom (Channel 7)

Best Radio Interview, Feature or News Report - Ken Cunningham & Graham Cornes (FIVEaa)

Best Commentary - Phil Herden, John Nankivell Chris Kendall, Phil Aspinall (LifeFM)

Best Online Interview - Feature or News Report - Jai Bednall (Messenger)

Best Action Photograph - Luke Hemer (Messenger)

thanks for that bp, now i know what sp was talking about, also congratulations to all the winners although to be honest how does m.rucci get an award when to my knowledge he wrote on the afl all year until the sanfl finals started :roll: :roll:

Michelangelo won his award for the story he wrote on the SANFL's study regarding the future of AAMI Stadium


Best Print Feature Story - Ashley Porter (Independent Weekly) & Andrew Capel (The Advertiser)
Ashley and Andrew tied for this award. Ashley's was for his profile on the great Bob Quinn and Andrew's award was for his profile interview of Centrals twins, Chris and James Gowans


Best TV Interview, Feature or News Report - Mark Soderstrom (Channel 7)
Soders interview of former North Adelaide ruckman Michael Burford on his farm in Port Pirie, talking about travelling to Adelaide to play league footy and keeping the farm going.


Best Radio Interview, Feature or News Report - Ken Cunningham & Graham Cornes (FIVEaa)
An interview that KG and Cornesy had with the great Phil Carman


Best Commentary - Phil Herden, John Nankivell Chris Kendall, Phil Aspinall (LifeFM)
An extract from gameday commentary with callers Phil Herden and John Nankivell, special comments caller Chris Kendall and boundar rider Phil Aspinall all involved in a little grab.


Best Online Interview - Feature or News Report - Jai Bednall (Messenger)
Jai's award was for is online article(s) with the "Race to the Magarey" keeping an eye on Magarey Medal favourites and updating their chances as the season unfolded.


Best Action Photograph - Luke Hemer (Messenger)
Luke's award was for a shot of North Adelaide's Andrew McIntyre. Showing him at full extension after kicking the ball in the muddied square during the game against Centrals at Prospect.


Best Character Photgraph - Sarah Reid (The Advertiser)
Sarah's award was for her wonderful action shots from the APY Lands finals showing some of the real characters of football up there. They can be seen on the SANFL web site.


Significant Contribution Awards:
Dennis Browne (5RPH) - For his wonderful service to SANFL football for over 40 years and his tenure as a commentator.
Ken Cunningham (FIVEaa) - Also for his wonderful service to SANFL, television shows, commentary and drive time talk back.


DB and KG spoke wonderfully well in their acceptance speech and Rob Payze gave both gentleman a fitting tribute. KG was quite emotional and recieved a fitting standing ovation.

Life FM have come along way from when they 1st started doing SANFL footy i used to hate it when the sturt games were on life but now they ar just as good a RPH

Even if it was it would be fitting imho ... Pre-Crows days he gave plenty of exposure to the SANFL, credit where it's due.

Congrats fella's. Truly deserved award. JN is the best commentator on the radio in my opinion, and supported by a great team.
