oh no another rooster rumour !!!

Postby bayman » Wed Oct 22, 2008 9:42 pm

'they' tell me that at least 3 players were told their services were no longer required & one of the players already knew before the meeting as someone(s) spilt the beans, now i know the name of 3 players but i feel it is unfair to name them on here
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I didn't realise this was a big secret :? Lets put it this way it would take more than 30 seconds of searching the Roost to find out who these three guys (allegedly) are.

Edit: i did mean wouldn't take more than 30 seconds.

So bayman, name the 3 players as Im intrigued but dont embarrass yourself by naming Brett White, Daniel Ward, Roury O'Brien or Ryan McGahey as they are all common knowledge.
You obviously have 3 new names in "another scoop" so who ?

Give bayman a break!!

I must have been living under a rock coz I didnt know. This obsession of North supporters jumping on whatever a bay supporter posts is beyond a joke.

Good comment

It wasnt public knowledge for me either, and consider Rory OBrien was touted as the best thig out of the West since
Australia II & Brett White is a real high profile shock and Daniel Ward was not a bad player and played quiet well at the end of the season

Fair Enough the new coach is obviously going the youth policy with some of their juniors but they are 3 high profile players and it worthy of Bayman to let us all know

Fair enough but he should name names or not bother and perhaps entitle the thread better.
Ward's gone to free up cap space, good player but you dont want to spend 10% of your cap on an injury prone flanker.
O'Briens gone back to WA as not good enough to get in best 21 and girlfriend is homesick.
Brett White also injury prone and struggles to make best 21.
A few others have moved on like has happened at every club but nothing newsworthy.
Healy saw a lot of SANFL in 08 due to his role with the Power and is a very honest operator which is a nice change.

Perhaps if the thread title wasn't as provocative it wouldn't invoke such a response. If you are going to post stuff like this name names or don't bother. Is there any need to title the thread "oh no another rooster rumour!!!". Wouldn't have "3 players cut by North" been enough. It's not like North will be the only club to move players on or that there is anything sinister in what has occured despite what the title of the thread suggests.

Moving players on is normal, but is this?
It's the second time a player has learnt of his potential axing prior to being told (if rumour is to be believed).
It would be interesting to know what Bayman means by saying one of the players "knew". Was he told or did he expect to get cut, so just knew anyway...

I dont have a dig at Glenelg supporters just 1 that comes up with "scoops" that are usually a week old and never puts names to his stories.
Also dash61 if you had seen much of North play, then Wedgies summary of Ward and O'Brien is spot on and the only wraps were from "your mate" who stupidly recruited them.
As for Brett White its unfortunate that he's been left on 99 games and has been a good clubman but was found wanting often during the year with his lack of pace.

For the last time Wedgie , tell us about Jars , now its history . Your last point makes me think you have a most interesting take on his time at the helm .

Injury Prone (Daniel Ward)
Played 15/20 senior games + 1 ressie game.
Was in the best 5 (7 out of a possible 15 games), not bad for an injury prone player

Brett White (Made the team, best 21 selected, 17 out 20 times) and was vice captain

I do believve there is a personal issue with Ward as well so that calls fair enough to not renew his contract, it may be mutural.

Brett White could turnout a Dean Howard at another club but what I believe is the way he found out prior to his 4.30 meeting about 2009, to treat your vice captain that way is pretty ordinary, would take a Brett White at Westies any day

Interesting comment G,
The guy who recruited him is still at the club in the same role I thought, the same guy who was involved in a list during the year and the same bloke who may have been slightly involved in the leaking of Brett White's demise through a player he told who will be there in 2009 who as well may be the star of a new movie "SHAFT" the true story of the demise of a SANFL coach  Coming to a picture cinema near you soon
