Ian "Sarge" Perrie

Postby eaglehaslanded » Sat Oct 18, 2008 11:16 am

With the news that Andrew Jarman is heading west to coach could the "Sarge" be Jars 1st recruiting target. Ian being a WA boy before being drafted by the Crows could be an ideal choice by Jars. Is he signed on with Sturt or could he head home to WA only time will tell. What are your thoughts.

Thought he had a contract with the Blues for next year?

What are contracts worth nowadays? Didn't the Sarge leave North when Jars was coach? I can't see them reuniting.

I thought Jars was reason number 1 for Perrie leaving North to begin with.

Correct.
The rest of the club wanted to keep him.

1. Perth are a shitty club
2. There's no money to pay any recruits
3. Even if there was, the salary cap is less than the SANFL
4. Perth rents are higher, that's if you can find a place
5. Andrew Jarman is coaching Perth.

Likelihood of Perrie leaving Sturt for Perth = 0.0001%

Reckon it's worth plenty in this case, even if he did want to move (which it appears he wouldn't for the reasons Barto mentioned) I'd say Sturt would get commensurate recompense.

I dunno, there always has to be some leeway, what if an asteroid hits Adelaide while he's visiting someone in WA? ;)

1. You are entitled to your opinion. But I find it rather ironic coming from a Sturt / Fremantle supporter. I could give you many reasons as to why your statement is completely wrong, but your mind is obviously made up
2. Completely untrue. Perth is now one of the better financially placed WAFL clubs. I wouldn't have thought Jarman would be coaching us purely for the love of it

Last flag 1977? Interesting article in the 'Tiser this morning about the appointment and the fact that Jars turned down a full time gig for a part time gig.

He will not have anywhere near the financial backing and off field resources he had at North and given Perth's woeful position in terms of the ladder he will be flat out lifting them to the finals but stranger things have happened.

Anyhow good luck to him and to Perth.

What have they got left to sell as a source of income? They sold their club name to raise some $.

Have the facilities at Lathlain been upgraded since 1959?

What drebin said, Jarman will have no where near the resources he had a North Adelaide.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

With an out clause in case an unsuccessful WAFL club threw (edit: a lack of) money at him.

Where were North sitting when he lifted them to the finals, they weren't exactly a powerhouse.

Never said we were a powerhouse but we have a considerably better record than Perth FC in comparison and when Jars took over at the end of 2003 the club was then turning over decent income which considerably helped him with off field resources and recruiting.
