I believe that the money would dry up for Subi if the stadium was built but as has been mentioned, the financial downturn plus more important priorities in the state means that the stadium is a few more years away yet.

IMO I think Subi might be able to beat the bottom five sides regularly home and away, but may find it harder in Adelaide against the others (they would have a massive advantage playing at Leederville Oval with the 2.5-3 hour flight each way).

It would be better to leave them in the WAFL and prove their worth under the new Player Points System - 130 points for a 55 player list with some severe penalties for infringements (no recruiting outside their allotted zone for 2 years and a 120 point balance for the first sanction-free year). Methinks that the WAFL may become more even with the removal of the salary cap and a more serious attempt at equalisation.

This year I thought 2 clubs improved to be a real threat.

Let Subi in and the NT and someone else and have a 12 team comp I say.
We used to be good :-(

here is a thought, a pre season comp between the top four clubs from the sanfl and the wafl from the previous season. would be great if sponsors could be found. imagine centrals v subiaco.

That could work. I reckon a knock out comp would be the way to go. We could play it 4 weeks before the regular season and with 8 teams it would be over in three weeks giving the two sides that made the grand final a rest before the real season begins.
You could seed it so that the top 2 sides (In theory Subiaco and Central) play in opposite halfs of the draw, it could look like this (higher ranked side given theoretical victory and included in parenthesis):

Week 1:
A-Central vs WAFL 4th side
B-Sturt vs WAFL 2nd side
C-Glenelg vs WAFL 3rd side
D-Norwood vs Subiaco

Week 2
E-Winner A (Central) vs Winner B (WAFL 2nd)
F-Winner C (Glenelg) vs Winner D (Subiaco)

Week 3
G-Winner E (Central) vs Winner F (Subiaco)

Seeded just like a tennis draw, and designed to allow the possibility of a SANFL vs WAFL fixture for every game. It may not work out like that in reality as teams in one comp are probably a lot stronger than teams in the other. In theory it could also result in all four sides from one league knocking out all of the other league's 4 sides in the first week. But if it was that lopsided everyone would save money on airfares because they wouldn't be travelling interstate anymore.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
