Damon White officially a Rooster!

Postby drebin » Thu Oct 16, 2008 11:03 am

From the NAFC website:

Damon White Joins The Roosters
We are delighted to advise members that Damon has joined the Roosters, signing a contract for the next four years. Few would realise that Damon has actually been with the Club since 2002 with North being his aligned Club in the SANFL.

A quality person, he will also bring special leadership to our group. All at North welcome Damon and Candice to our Club, with Damon now an official Rooster player.

Great pick up and if we don't lose Daniel Stewart or Dodman to the draft then White should solve the CHB issue for us!

Great story to see a bloke "plonked" with a local club by virtue of the AFL system here forge a strong enough relationship to remain here at the close of his AFL career.

Awesome pickup for the Roosters too as he's top shelf at SANFL level

That is good news.
Just curious Drebin, you say "solve the CHB issue", wouldn't he have been doing that for most of the season anyway?
How many Port games did he play compared to North?

In and out of the side all year and played forward quite a bit so didn't really solve any issues. Having him full time will be a huge boost. Great news and good on Damon for committing the the Roosters.

If there was a CHB issue, why wasn't he playing there when available?

Mark McKenzie is another who comes to mind originaly aligned to the Eagles when he was selected as a rookie with Power after being delisted and being picked up by Carlton on rookie list and being delisted again we managed to recruit him back to the club. Now he remains an Eagle our club captain - one of our best players and indeed of the sanfl comp.

He can fill the void left by C Ladhams who I am led to believe will have his own salary cap playing at Nhill with Hargraves

He did on about 3 or 4 occasions but the majority he was up forward when we were forced to use Stewart in ruck.

I thought hed have to be fitted into the next 4 years salary cap and not this years? (except for the set amoumt for his limited games).
With the players leaving, left or retiring I dont think its going to be an isue next year though.

Why are some people obsessed with North and the Salary Cap?

We have never been caught despite numerous investigations as a result of mainly some clubs pointing the finger and slurring our good name! Anyone would think we play outside the rules?

In Micky's defence, I don't think there's an agenda to have a crack at North's salary cap. He's more pointing out a fact that North will have to account for all of White's wage in its cap now.
That's the way I read it anyway.

Andrew Geddes did the same at Sturt, he was picked up by the crows on the old mid-season draft and ended up staying with sturt. he now lives here in adelaide.
