Both sides finished the season 17-6.
'Might' was the operative word.

ST...

If those numbers are correct then Glenelg arent.

Indeed they are correct.
At one stage we wre 11-6, and won the last six games on end.
The Bays were 16-4 going into the finals, and ended 1-2 in the finals.
Sturt were 15-4 going into R23, and ended 16-7.

ST...
The cats of Australia have made their choice!!!

No can do Tigerboss and your not a Mod  I will say well done to Roy (something you didnt) for realising his deficiancies midway and change a few things. How many coaches have tried that and failed? I think it shows respect and proffessionalism from the playing group.

What i this talk about Roy changing the game plan?

A few changes to personnel were made due to injury and form but the game plan stayed intact.

Also his strategy to:

1. Finish top 3

2. Make the GF

3. Win the GF

I remember discussing April/May June premierships back then. Some of you mob just don't get it - the only value of the minor round games are to accumulate enough points to finish top 3 and to get a bit of form. Finals is what its all about

The more time that passes after the great win by Centrals, the more insipid garbage goes from some peoples brains to their fingers and keyboard then ultimately it appears on this forum.
"Move on dogs fans"... heres a tip .. move on yourselves and worry about your own clubs prospects for next year, once the mess that was left behind after this years effort gets sorted out.
In the meantime ,the GF celebrations have been great, the writeups in the papers, the Chimney unveiling, the after party ect ect ect, life is good for us Doggy fans at the moment 8)
All the best. 8)

I don't think Dogs fans should be moving on at all. In fact after what some of us copped from some Glenelg fans this year I don't think anyone should be moving on!
I can tell you as a Cats fan I didn't "move on" till just after half time of the GF loss to Hawthorn!
Celebrate for another 12 months Dogs fans, you're made if you dont! :D
I'll be leaving the little premiership graphic up on the homepage till Round 1 next year too.

Yes during the interview after the game on 5AA Roy said they completely changed the game plan about 7 or so weeks ago

D4eva, IMO it makes the premiership an even greater achievement in that he revamped the plan, taught it to the players and won a flag all in 7 weeks  =D>

Also they had an hour training session a few days before the GF that only a few people plus players knew about, just to go through some strategys.

Laird admitted in the Messenger paper two weeks ago that changes were made 10 weeks previously, and mentioned after the game on tele. Also there's an article written by Reece Homfray titled "Good plan, coach" in this weeks Messenger paper. The author interviews Laird, Chris Gowans and Thomas about some of the planning and changes made in preparation for the games against Sturt and Glenelg. Part of it focusing on a 25 man squad, changing to a much more defensive orientated game. Check out the article.

I don't know if the article can be linked to this site.
