The context of the claim that he thought Glenelg are a better side was not effected by removing the rest of the post that is up twice in full already.....I could understand it if Glenelg had finished Minor Premier by 3 games and a solid percentage gap and won the Second-Semi by 10 goals before just getting beaten in the Grand Final but this was far from the case here. Two hidings by the same team a fortnight apart totally bury that claim surely??? :? :?

Dont forget when these 2 sides met on a saturday night in round 18 the dogs belted glenelg by 45 pts. IMHO the dogs had the better of glenelg, even though glenelg beat the dogs twice at the start of the year the dogs still had chances to win those, but the games that the dogs won they won very convincingly.
I must admit that i was more confident going into the GF knowing we were playing glenelg and not sturt (no disrespect to glenelg).

I took TBs post to means that we are perhaps the better side over the year but Centrals are clearly the better TEAM. TEAMs win premierships not sides.

I've always said we were the best side in 1990 but Port Adelaide was the best TEAM
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Just catching up on this thread.

gothebombers, what rubbish   Tell me wtf does a Centrals supporter at an Aussie Rules grand final, on the other side of the planet, have to do with English Soccer. And btw it's spelt Hooligan.

Have a rant about the flare by all means, but keep the steroetyping to yourself. For the record, there are no flares at English soccer games. Maybe you should have posted "Turkish soccer hooligans"

ok....maybe i shouldnt have written that .........so ill just say hooligans........is that ok johntheclaret....im just misinformed onthe flares thing over seas.......typical ozzie..sorry

Nah, play on gtb. It just p1sses me that every time this sort of stuff happens folk bring up English soccer fans. To be honest, most English soccer games are pretty tame affairs as fas as any hooligans are concerned, and they have never used flares. more of a Turkish and european thing. Apologies for the over reaction.

 no probs

Good point, I don't recall anyone saying the Dogs were done. From memory some people said they were struggling a bit mid-season, which they were, but I don't remember anyone saying they were no chance to win the flag this year.

Maybe someone (if they can find it) could post the predictions from the Advertiser at the start of the year. Or the extract from the weekend budget that had the "experts" view after the minor round, on how the finals would end up. I think most on this site (as opposed to the "experts' and Grima) were pretty cautious in not wanting to write the doggies off.

better add in the 45 points a few weeks before that at night

5 goals and 7 goals dont appear to be hidings on the scoreboard but they did SMASH us, especially in the 3rd 1/4's the last two games.

40 point loss in '08 vs. 65 point loss in '07. Yep that's a huge gap and feel free to console yourselves with that fact!

How about we got back to '87 if you want to rake up the past? Doesn't detract from the fact that your team (like mine last year), was the best placed loser - no prizes for coming second, no matter the margin.

the doggies banner had something along the lines of

'no-one remembers second place

lets be remembered'

well they certainly will be remembered for the dominance of the comp that theyve had for the past decade.

in fact the way centrals play a 7 goal loss is a hiding, and thats not taking anything away from there game style, cos its a proven formula, unfortunately not too many have worked out how to beat it on GF day.

At no point did I write the Dogs off...only a fool would. You don't generate a reputation as they have done, by having a bad year here and there...they are solid year-in, year-out performers...

But I'm with Dutchy...move on Dogs fans...all this tripe about not being rated mid-season etc...you should be pleased your coach reassessed the game plan and made changes, because had he not done so, we could be talking about a Bays or Double Blues Premiership side.

Winning a Premiership is good news enough, without needing to add sprinkles and hundreds and thousands on top.
