Bring it on!

OK. What are people's predictions for the ladder at the conclusion of the year. Will CD win again?

My prognostication:

Sturt
Glenelg
Central
Eagles
Norwood
North
Magpies
South
West

Sturt to start slowly but come home with a bang.

Centrals' aging side to finally succumb after a fantastic dynasty.

Luke Crane to make it two in a row Medals like Squizzy :)

Eagles to be the big improver.

Not definate. Just a guess where I have been right the last few years.
It will be a team Norwood plays 3 times so here are the candidates:
South, Central, Port, North

Not South (never played in Norwood Oval opener, but low crowd pulling power)
Not Central (last played opener in 2001, but would host Sat night game at HHO)
Leaves Port and North
Port last played opener in 07, North in 05, therefore its Norths turn.

Basically, its a 4 team rotation in this order... North, Glenelg, Port, Sturt

Maybe you can put an "estimated" countdown clock until the official fixture comes out.

Calculated the date based on starting the same weekend next year.

Doggies will have one retirement from the team on Sunday, 7 players under 22, 6 played their first Grand Final and Havelburg, Slattery, Switala, Hadden and Lawrie that didn't play. Symes also but he'll probably spend more time with the Crows. They'll still be top three, but need to be preparing to lose Slade, the Gowans boys and maybe more the year after leaving a big hole in the midfield.

Apparently only six in the Grand Final team are from outside of Centrals zones.

Write them off at your peril.

The Bays will be better for this year, but I also thought that about North last year. Still North had Jarman and maybe other issues, whereas Glenelg have Mickan and are progressing nicely. Like many other people I expected North and the Eagles to make the five this year. Oooops !!! If Westies and South can lift, North and the Eagles might get closer to the spoon than they like.

Dunno about Sturt. They seem to need something else. They seem to match up on the dogs better than anyone else, possibly because of the Ricks knowledge of the dogs system and attitude, but can't match it with the Tigers. I think Norwood or Port may catch the Blues next year as I expect both to continue to improve.

I'd love to see West and South lift, but won't hold my breath. South won the first three games this year, then the coach left a couple of weeks later and everything fell apart. They've got to get their act together. West seem to be rebuilding from scratch every year. Don't forget they played in a Grand Final in 2003 but got hammered in the AFL draft. They seem to have trouble picking the right players, (or coach?). It seems a long time ago and they've been pretty much hopeless since.

I'm not going to try to list the teams in any particular order but above is a very rough idea. Of course I'm biased but would not be surprised to see Centrals do it again next year, probably from Glenelg or Norwood.

Roll on 2009. We may get a better idea once the clubs start showing their ins and outs, but I doubt it.

Much too far away. :(

My early tip is the Dogs again, likely against the Bays in the GF.

My team to finish 5th.

the SANFL draw tends to come out in late November to early December, normally sometime after the AFL draw.

LOL ... I always suffer withdrawal symptoms when the footy's over, but not this year ... It can get exhausting following your club (}lol or maybe just my club)!!

Give it a month or so though and I'll be craving footy again bigtime no doubt.

it will not be that!!!!
the Roosters have asked The SANFL for a Twilight Game at home for round 1, with the new light towers installed,

i will be there!!

11.15 am U/18s

2pm Reserves

5pm Seniors

This form of triple header would provide a great days entertainment, bring all our grades together and yet still be over by 8pm.

Well... I could be wrong this year then. Sounds like a great idea for most. Could be a frequent fixture for grounds with lights. I tend to dislike Sat night games buts thats me.

North has asked it for round 1, but will they get it?
Round 1 IMO should contain 1 Fri night, 1 Sat arvo, 1 Sat night and one Sun arvo. NFC would want the Fri night, CDFC would want the Sat night. For NAFC to get the Sat twilight, there would need to still be the Sat arvo for ABC coverage. For the 3 clubs to be happy, there will be 1 Fri and 3 Sat games. Not sure the SANFL will want that to market round 1.

North have asked for 1 or 2 twilight games early in the season. The upgrade was more for improved training lighting, not for night footy but they are good enough for twilight games which will see them be able to play untill 8pm during daylight savings.

Early in the season before amateur and country footy kicks off, this could be a great concept.
