Well done to Glenelg for winning the last 19s flag when they go to the u18s next year unless they bring the 17s/19s back.

Well done to the Tigers; I thought that whoever made it to the GF before the finals started would have put up a great contest, and looking at the scores, it was.

Although it may be the last match to carry the Under 19s name, Ecky and myself have decided that the Under 18s competition next year will carry on the stats and premierships of the Under 19s. The Under 18s competition allows for up to 6 Under 19s players, so in a way it still is an Under 19s competition.

This has been the highest scoring year for the Under 19s since 1994. 92.91 points were scored on average per team; in 1994 97.93 points were scored by each team. 1995s scoring shots per match just shades this year - 50.39 to 50.34.

a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

Nice of the lads to restrict their lap of honour to making a beeline to Snout's Hill.

Pictures will follow, if I can be @rsed.

Posted a review of sorts in the main GF thread, but this was a cracker of a match throughout. The AFL scouts would have been watching a few of these kids with great interest, plenty delivering on the big stage when it counted. Glenelg's Jack Redden easily BOG for a wonderful performance throughout. Won plenty of the clearances, and work at stoppages was crucial. Nick Pekin also showed a cool head with the footy on a number of occasions, and Drew Clayfield was clever when the ball was to be won from the packs.

Kieran Flanigan tried hard for Sturt to lift them with a booming second half, and Peter Weir showed poise when it went forward (was a neat touch for movie buffs to have both Weir and Hitchcock on the park at the same time). Paul Cahill could have nearly won it off his own boot, but finishing let him down at the wrong times.

Certainly not a decision to decide a match, and the Snouts weren't sitting that far from this one, but I reckon even Sam Sverdloff would have been a bit surprised to be paid that mark in the goal square in the dying minutes. Didn't exactly hold it an eternity.

Cahill had what I thought was a shocker but still kicked 3.4 and bounced a ball over his head when running into an open goal, not to mention his one handed attempt on the goal line. missed some sitters as well.

top game of football, glenelg were cleaner with the ball all day and I thought Sverdloff and 18 were very good for the bays.

Bays kicked the last 3 in the last 4 minutes to exaggerate the margin.

well done Bays!

I feel a great deal of sorrow for my mate Peter Baccanello but he's a great leader and an inspiration to all at Oxford Terrace. :D

Congratulations to the 19s and a big cheer for all the Bays fans who sat together and roared loudly all game, getting the lads home. It was quite remarkable the last 15 minutes of the game...
