What a game, what a team, what a club!! I'm so lucky to be living through a dynasty like this and after the club copped so much crap over 36 years we're making up for lost time!

The "old and slow" Gowans boys were great as was Matty Slade 7 Premierships what an achievement! Thought Dutschke was good, Hayes, O'Sullivan... the young guys stood up well O'Hara, Goodrem, Moss well done to all first time premiers and of course Jason "Buckets" McKenzie winning the Jack Oatey Medal so well deserved. Love the bloke!! Luke McCabe what a way to retire (again)

Good speeches from Buckets, Slade, Thomo and Lairdy acknowledging Glenleg's efforts this year.
To all Glenelg supporters great to see so many of you turn up and make a cracking atmosphere. I know you'd be disappointed but hold your heads up on a great year your club has had. You've come a long way in a few years and have got a great club who will be around the mark again so all the best guys!

I hope the morons with the flares get caught and banned for life it's just dangerous crap we don't want at the footy and it gives CDFC a bad name.

Finally to Roy Laird.... what a legend and a decent bloke too. We love you Roy!!

GO YOU DOGGIES - LET THE DYNASTY LIVE ON!!! \:D/

It was amazing stuff, on TV it seemed like there were about 10 thousand less people in the stands at the start of the 4th quarter? Obviously many Crows supporters are Bays supporters.

Just catching up on this thread.

gothebombers, what rubbish   Tell me wtf does a Centrals supporter at an Aussie Rules grand final, on the other side of the planet, have to do with English Soccer. And btw it's spelt Hooligan.

Have a rant about the flare by all means, but keep the steroetyping to yourself. For the record, there are no flares at English soccer games. Maybe you should have posted "Turkish soccer hooligans"

ok....maybe i shouldnt have written that .........so ill just say hooligans........is that ok johntheclaret....im just misinformed onthe flares thing over seas.......typical ozzie..sorry

very old news, where have you been all year?

I think you will find Todd if VERY happy with his choice, which was not purely football based...

Yes we know it wasnt purely football based. The old saying money talks and bulls**t walks.
Did he earn the extra money on the biggest day in the SANFL calender(I think not).

Well he wasn't our worst player yesterday and provided a focal point. He kicked a goal and by his own admission it should've been more given the opportunities he got (4 marks in the inside 50).

given the dominace of Centrals midfield especially after halftime he did well with limited opportunities
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I thought he could have almost been a matchwinner given the goals he missed.

There were a few bays supporters near me who stayed till the end and clapped the winning team.

That takes a bit of guts, having been on the losing end a few times I recall. So thanks for your sportmanship and sorry about the morons with the flares. If anyone sets one off that I witness I will dob them into the cops.

That's the only thing that diminishes the respect and admiration I have for the CDFC. Too good yesterday, but the lose will be the spur that drives the Bays further.

Well done Central, and to the good supporters you have.

Bring on 2009.

Just a comment on the "old and slow" Centrals had 7 players under 22 yesterday, including Dutschke and Goodrem. . The Bays had 4 (I think) but had 5 players aged 22. The draft and Crows/Power selection will hurt the doggies more than retirements this year. .

At a Centrals night game earlier in the year I was near the southern goals when a flare was set off. Two minutes later a guy was escorted out by the police and everyone he was taken past was giving him S#&@. I'm guessing because of the flare. Most doggies supporters hate it. The officials know where these things are going to be used so there must be some way of catching them in the act and banning them. Especially in minor round games where the group going end to end isn't that large.

Good win Sunday :D

One minute later Callinan kicks a ripper and the Dogs roll on.

Whilst it my not have won the game, I totally agree Topsy- we had a chance to be ruthless and missed it....The Doggy player should have been ironed out. Im sure if the roles were reversed our player would have been 'proppy' at best.

The other major defining moment was after Bode snapped the goal in the third to get the margin back to about 2 goals Centrals got the next clearance instantly and Slade? ran onto a bouncing ball and snapped a goal within 15 secs....seemed to deflate our boys massively. The dogs dont miss many chances at goal, and as someone mentioned earlier scoreboard pressure in finals is the best pressure you can put on a team.

Centrals were awesome, take nothing away from them- I read somewhere they had 83 tackles? That is a phenomenal work rate and the type of thing that wins flags. I thought Schell hurt us (yet again :( ) and McKenzie seemed to be everywhere we didnt want him to be. I thought O'Sullivan was stiff to miss the Jack Oatey as his work in the first half in particular kept the dogs in striking distance.

For my boys, Kirk tried sooooo hard all day and took a couple of great grabs. He will be better next year with a full footy season behind him after missing most of this year. Big Trev busted his ass* all day, Bodey, Murphy all worked hard but were just overwhelmed by a greater TEAM effort. Hopefully we can keep most of the team together, and come out next season with another shot at it.

A good season bays, but ran into the finals masters twice and could find a way to beat them... it beats sitting at the bottom of the ladder....but only just :(

agree but are the CDFC officials serious about getting rid of these flares? History says No....

It would be very easy to find out who is responsible if the effort is made

On the replay the Bay player that was running directly at Hayes was knocked off his line by another Bay player coming across from the centre of the ground, which is why Hayes had an almost clear line to try to play on. Fortunately for Hayes the umpires didn't see it that way and paid the mark and not holding the ball .

I hope it doesn't take an innocent bystander getting hurt to make them act, especially now they are throwing the things. Even if CDFC officials weren't serious surely the SANFL would lean on them. Who's responsible for public safety and liability at these grounds. Someone getting burnt or losing an eye would cause lots of problems for CDFC and the SANFL.

Could someone confirm this for me....how many Centrals players were in the top 1o stats getters in the Budget after the completion of the minor round.

The last time I saw, out of the stats they record (kicks, handballs, marks, taps) we only had one player in the top 10 - Buckets (taps).

If this is correct, that's another amazing stat.

I'm pretty certain that the DH that threw the flare wasn't among those who lit them.
I would be very certain that those who did light the flare were disappointed and very angry about the fact it was thrown.

Apparently it hit a girl, and burnt her...
Will find out from a mate who's at the SANFL about it...
