Sorry but those two where not fires...they were people being crushed due to a panic to try escape the actions of opposition supporters. It's frightening how quickly and easily panic spreads in a crowd especially if there are children present. Whether they throw stones, sticks or flares people will try to get away and that can quickly escalate.

Nah mate, just on the sarcasm bus!

O'Hara's game was magnificent, One exciting play from an extra medal around his neck. He was the first to get his premiership t shirt though. Check the photo album in the link below, he's in there with the shirt on.

Good stuff Wedgie!! I have read theories that good photographers tend to have more "luck" with chance happenings than the regular casual shutterbug.
I reckon put the photo up on this site also. Shame on the moron who threw it!
this isnt the first time a flare or two has been thrown at centrals games...i hope noone was hit or burnt, and i hope youdid get a shot of him chucking it wedgie, we dont need it at the footy.....

Nup, just checked it, the perpetrator is in smoke so you can't see him or her.[/quote]

Probably still useful though. If you can see the people they are standing next to, or the area they were standing in, it could be cross referenced against other footage that was taken when there wasn't any smoke, or from another angle. All hypothetical, but checking with the police wouldn't do any harm.

I'm sure Central players and supporters will be thinking of those two facts right now.

Pity...lets hope someone else with a conscience got a clear shot.

I guess some morons won't be satisfied until you get your own equivillent of Heysel or Hillsborough. They obviously have no idea of the sort of panic and possible stampede/crush throwing a flare into a crowded space could create...then again that would require the use of brain cells

what about the little girls head it rebounded off and burnt her little face,,,,it was thrown deliberately into a group of glenelg supporters,,,,,but the stadium is concrete so i guess no damage hey........ also your prob right d.eye

I already said it was stupid, but I was saying it isn't going to burn down the stadium and kills 100's. A bit of realism should be applied in contrast to the post I replied to. Don't take it out of context please.

Really good turnout at the Bay. Some of the players hitting the piss??? of course they are. Its the end of season....

To the absolutely disrespectful rude pricks front right of stage you need to seriously look at yourselves. Matt Bode, Ben Mules and Mark Mickan deserved FAR better than your inane chanting, yelling and carry on when they were trying to speak. It is the last time a great deal of people will hear from Bodey and your behaviour was a joke. Three times he stopped...repeated himself and tried to say his "thank you's. In the end he cut it short. DISGRACEFUL. There should have been SILENCE while he was speaking and then cheering and chanting once it was clear he'd finished or at least finished a sentence.
Ben Mules actually handed the mic back and said "should I go on"....

Awesome crowd, really good atmosphere... but some real ****heads who thought it was all about them.

Congratulations to the CDFC - a great win today.
Glenelg to get to the GF has been a terrific effort but Central District just too good on the day.
(The WWTFC would also congratulate the CDFC and express commiserations to GFC)

One thing is for sure - 8 clubs will be working very hard to try to keep the Doggies out of their tenth straight GF appearance in 2009!

Congrats of course to the CDFC and their supporters. Deja Vu from Adel oval 2 weeks ago.

I said after that one... too big, strong, aggressive, comitted, team orientated, structured, accurate, efficient and all HEART. Upon looking at their side I can not see then dropping away at all. Their younger fellas are coming through magnificently (O'Hara, Moss, Goodrem, Williams, Dutschke etc) and with a few that missed out. They'll lose some.. but the foundtations have been set and the bar is set at such a level I cant see them falling after a period of dominance like some others sides have in years gone by. They dont rely and never have on AFL listed players... they are a genuine hard side with few (if any )passengers in doing the hard stuff when its their turn.

Congrats to Gowans x 2 and Slade for their 7th. Awesome effort.

Definitely not too old and too slow. Shut your mouth next time Toddy. It may have been in mock "jest"... but you give them NOTHING.... and eventually it bit you fair on the arse. Glenelg got monstered all around the ground by a better side. Some young fellas got found out when the acid was on. Great stuff Matty Bode for the way you worked your arse off to the final siren. To the end it was the usual suspects carrying the load when we were up against it. Good stuff Forrest, Blocky, Ty and Cranno.

Thanks to the boys from the GFC for a season full of highs. The crowds, the atmosphere, the teams willingness to embrace the glenelg community... its not all bad... but geez it hurts like hell right now.

BAYMAN will be there TOMorrow to catch up with us all
Talked to him on his phone, naturally he is disappointed, but the mood at the club is quite good.
The theory that you need to lose a G/F b4 you win one could be true for the black and yellows

LATE MAL
Omaaaan tip
TOMorrow at Globe Derby trots
R4-3 NODOGSALLOWED
Good EW hope

It really was a magnificent spectacle today
None of this kicking sideways/backwards/hold the ball up AFL zone crap
Sure CD zoned well but it was not farcical
Good STYLE of umpiring, let the play flow if possible
AND
None of that holding the ball crap when a player fights for the ball on the deck and some bludger touches his jumper.

Next season I will watch the AFL as its still agreat game
But truthfully I would rather watch WA V SA than GE V HW games next year

A year ago this guy was in an accident and was in a coma
He awoke up last week after nearly a year but had severe Amnesia
For several days the therapists were trying to invoke his memory by relating to his past
They mentioned his family his work his favourite pastimes
However nothing worked as the guy still couldnt recall anything from his past
Today he was watching the G/F from his hospital bed
When they showed the CD players holding up the Cup he screamed out
" Nurse my memory is back it must be October .....

Well, what can I say about the group that represents the Central District Football Club? Awesome to win a premiership when we were not the most talented team this year. As Roy said after the match they made up for the shortfall in talent by doing other things that were required to take them to the top: great tackling, pressure and fitness. Commiserations to the Glenelg and Sturt football clubs. Both raised the bar somewhat this year and did make it tough for Central to win this one. I think that this was the sweetest premiership since our first one in 2000 due to the way the players lifted in the second half of the season. Also great to win the flag with six players getting their first premiership medallion. Well done to all, from the young guns like O'Hara (sensational game), Moss, Westhoff, Goodrem to the experienced players like Luke McCabe (thanks for the memories, Luke, and for coming back to win another medallion), Chris and James Gowans, Sladey, Thommo etc. Everyone stood up at some stage today. Sensational game from Buckets - proved those who said he was too unfit and overweight to play good football wrong. Also special mention to Jezza who pretty much came back from the football graveyard this year - no matches between 2006 and round 23 this year and yet proved to be what we needed down back as a matchup on talls from other teams.
The news for supporters from other clubs is that each season you get one step closer to ending our run - it must end one day so hang in there!
In conclusion, to paraphrase Todd (who is still welcome at Central next year) and add a little: Too slow, too old..... but still too darn good!
Cheers
