AAMI OR ADELAIDE OVAL FOR S.A.N.F.L GRAND FINALS

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Understand the logistics of catering etc
Thats why the G/F is at AAMI
Nearly all posters agree it should be at AAMI
I have no problem going to AAMI this week

But the one thing that alludes fair and squareness is that some players are playing their first A grade SANFL games this week.
The sides that include PP /AC players may be advantaged ?
CD are advantaged by having players who have played at AAMI in previous G/FS ?
GL are disadvantaged becoz they have players who have not played at AAMI ?

In the AFL all sides+ players get to play at the MCG a few times so its not an issue

And for the posters who say its a ground with boundary lines + goals and it makes no diff they are not 100% right
Where would you rather play CD at Hamra or CD at the Bay ?

OK AAMI is a nuetral ground
BUT I feel that CD have a possible percieved advantage for the above reasons

once the Adelaide Oval renovations are done then definately consider it, it should be able to be flexable though, if Norwood, Port, Sturt are in the top 3 you wouldnt move it from AAMi but if Eagles, South & West were you would book Adelaide Oval

I agree if its a Grand Final contining exclusively 2 of the 3 teams in South, West and Eagles definately look at moving it to Adelaide Oval.
Luckily that's never occurred since Footy Park has been built and hasn't been an issue yet.

Centrals have earned that advantage over the years.

Has to stay at Footy Park IMHO. Agree with previous posts re Adel Oval's capacity to cater for 30,000 plus. Sure you might squeeze them in, but a lot of kids/elderely would go without a seat.

With the Dogs playing in their 9th straight & with a bit of rain around on Sunday, I dont think we will quite get to 30K this time around, however any combination of "the big 4" along with NA in the next few years could draw a 35K strong crowd.

BTW - if 30K at Footy Park has no atmosphere - it would explain why Port couldnt get enthused this year

That was the poll that said

Do you like the Advertiser?

Option A - Yes
Option B - I love it
Option C - Nothing beats it

And the results were

Option A - 50%
Option B - 75%
Option C - 75%
Trust the process.

This seems like another Advertiser attempt at pushing their Multi Purpose Stadium in the middle of Adelaide. They're getting desperate when their angle is the SANFL GF and Adelaide United's up coming 2nd Semi Final. While the possibility of SA missing out on possible World Cup games is an issue as is next weeks AU final not being able to house a bigger crowd, that is a Soccer problem which needs a larger soccer stadium, footy has no real problem once an upgrade of FP has been done. By the way I like going to the Soccer.
So SANFL GF has to be at FP, as 30,000 won't fit into AO very well and you can't change venues to suit an expected crowd one week before a GF.
'PAFC don't want any advantages in the SANFL. It would only take away from any achievements we earned.'

The Advertiser's argument for a Multi-Purpose stadium is so full of holes it's not funny (The SANFL/AFL won't program games there if AAMI is still around, it will most likely be a round stadium, still making it unsuitable for soccer etc).

Also, part of the reason the Libs lost government in 2002 was over the redevelopment of Hindmarsh Stadium - it was also the reason Rann refused to fund the Adelaide Oval redevelopment in 2003 (Chappel/Hill Stands and videoscreen).

Obviously AAMI handles today's size crowd much better than Adelaide Oval, especially in terms of parking and catering, and for that reason should keep the grand final.

One thing I couldn't understand today was the incessant noise over the PA system during every break between quarters. Is it not possible to have a quiet moment at the footy to chat to people around you without being drowned out by the ground announcer reading out the score over and over again! This constant entertainment must surely be aimed more at AFL crowds, who need some excitement at the breaks to make up for the lack of action onfield!

AAMI could also do with a new onfield announcer, especially after the gaffe he made in the U13's game at half time of the reserves. As soon as the siren sounded he announced the winners as South Adelaide, and all their players started celebrating. At the presentation though, he announced that "after checking the scores" the Eagles were actually the winners by a point. Wouldn't you check the scores before announcing one team as the victor??

personally i don't mind it at footy park, however i've spoken to a few players (not just glenelg players) & all bar 1 of them (spoke to about 12) would prefer it to be played at the adelaide oval & if this situation is consistent with all the players perhaps they should be able to have a say in it..............i think the bottom line would be $$$$$$$$$$$
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

bottom line is Adealide oval is to smal to host a SANFL grand final. How would 2000 bays or dogs fans have felt not being able to go to the game?

I prefer Adelaide Oval, but unless everyone can be squeezed in, it has to be AAMI.

2008 34,128
2007 30,478
2006 25,130
2005 28,637
2004 24,207

2001 26,378
2000 34,819
1999 39,135
1998 44,838

Why would Adelaide Oval need to hold 45,000?? It's not 1998...
