This won't surprise you, I thought the umpiring was very consistant yesterday players in front positin got rewarded with a free kick if it was there and if players had prior opportunity and where tackled (allbeit briefly e.g Panozzo in teh2nd qtr) they got pinged.

When Sturt got first to the footy late in teh 2nd qtr they got free kicks and in the third qtr when they had the footy i.e were first they got the run of the umpiring. Fair enough they were first to the footy.

I wont say they were perfect I mean in the third qtr after Sturt got their two goals we brought the ball into our fifty to a leading Kirkby he was being held as he led (you could see his jumper stretch most obvious free of the day I thought and play on was the call...)

So all in all like last week when Centrals got the run of the umpiring (justifiably) it was the team first to the footy that got rewarded.

Good umpiring IMO particularly from Williams.

Yes i agree Glenelg were first to the ball and got rewarded for that but there were numerous occasions were sturt was held up on the mark and high contact no paid. which up the other end was.... i think it was just different umpires and different interpretations.

One last thing before i do some work  I as i said was in the Bradman stand and was watching the sturt cheer squad below me and about 10 mins into the last qtr roughly 10 big blokes in glenelg gear formed right next to the cheer squad. They were yelling profanities and personal abuse at the cheer squad regarding mothers, daughters and the like. very poor form by that mob and well done to the cheer squad for just packing up there flags.

The SCS has copped a lot of negative shit in recent times and your comments are good to hear.

If you think Aerie sees your point of view, you really need to think again mate.

Aerie wrote:It was pretty poor by Chambers. Rudolph went to shake his hand and Chambers did the old pull the hand away and sleek it through his hair trick. Then at the start of the third quarter Chambers went up to Rudolph and said "Give me five". "On the side". "Down low". Before pulling out once again and saying "Too slow".

It was very childish and unsportsmanlike behaviour and I can understand why stampy is furious.

Definately mate i have seen some avergae stuff from people i thought were associated with the SCS but then told they are tag alongs which all clubs have. And i think although pumped with there teams performance and first GF appreance in 15 years that some GFC supporters could have been more gracious as when i was leaving i was families of sturt supporters have flags drapped over them the sturt scarves ripped off them etc which was a shame as the team had just performed so well. Apart from the result and some dodgy supporter antics i thought it was a great crowd and the Adelaide oval was the perfect venue

So, does Rudolph offer the hand to Schell this weekend? Or does he wait for Schell to move forward, after starting in defence?

I suppose it goes with the territory of being a champion that the gutter snipes are going to analyse your every move.

I hope this thread remains standing as a testimony to the greatness that is Brant Chambers. Plenty of full forwards have kicked one goal or less in a game this year, but when Brant does it, he gets a thread started about the feat, complete with personal attacks on him and name calling.

Let the thread stand, only a champion could inspire such an attack!

Congratulations: 109 goals in 2008. :D
Commiserations: We didn't take home the Cup. :(
Condolences: Glenelg supporters for having such a complete twat as the guy who started this thread in their number.

Speaking of $trutPierre... where is the big fella? I vaguely recall that he was one of the first Blooze to post here after last year's EF loss, and in very good grace too.

[edit] Here was his post from last year: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10466
Nice to see stampy describing Chambo as a champion in the immediate follow-up!

Who is feeling like the bigger tool now? Chambo or the author of this thread? This can only get better if the latter gets onto dumb & dumber and they tear shreds off him

Must say personally I find it a disgrace Chambo did not shake hands.

In my playing days of footy I always would shake hands with my opponent. To see a player like Chambo (who kids look up too) not shake the hand of Rudolph is very sad. Sportsmenship, Fairness and too be gracious in winning or losing is what is missing alot in footy today.

Good on Rudolph for doing it. He is the one who can hold his head high at the end of the day.

To see the carry on by Chambo from yesterday's game, is he becoming the Matthew Richardson of the SANFL???? :?
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Football was never the gentlemen's game, that was always left to golf and cricket etc, so if Chambo elected not to shake the hand before the game, then fair enough.

Personally I always did when I played footy, but used to hear the stories of what some others used to do in the 80's, 70's 60's etc, and it was much worse than refusing to shake.

No harm done and play on imho.

What a load of garbage. Some players get criticised for being too friendly, then others not enough. You do what you feel appropriate at the time. To blame a guy for something so trivial, especially when your team has just won probably says a bit about your character more than Chambers.

Southee, I think the Port Magpies CEO is already the Matthew Richardson of the SANFL.

As for Chambers not shaking hands with Rudolph before the game, it would rate way down the list of things to take from this game. Glenelg supporters should focus on the dominant display their team produced yesterday, and hope it carries on to next week in the big one!

I used to as well Southee, but some players didn't shake my hand in response, so I just tapped them on the shoulder and said good luck. Some players have different approaches to the start of games, some are nervous, others are in the zone. Personally I didn't care if they didn't shake my hand. I knew it was something I did at the start of every game but I know teammates who hated me doing it (sign of weakness), and hated their opponent doing it to them. Weird hey?

I can't believe there has been a thread on it personally but there you go. Just shows everyone has an opinion, but I certainly don't think any less of Chambers, nor more of Rudolph. It's like tucking your guernsey in, or wearing your socks down. Who cares.
