Great sides have eras like the Hawks in the 80's Kanga's in the 90's and Brisbane recently. Sometimes a team gets lucky and it all comes together one year. Lets see if the Cats can do it again.

Jeez sorry for being happy about my side winning a premiership after four decades of anguish and heartbreak. The only joke around here is you.

Wait til Carlton win one again...FFS, there will be so much NAVY BLUE on my profile, they'll have to redesign the board to tone it down.

In fact put those three sides together and it'd be mighty hard to see Geelong LOSING.
Cheers

Interesting that these teams are those that are commonly brought up when talking about the great teams of the 'modern era'. The Hawthorn side of 1988 is not mentioned in although their accomplishments speak for themselves
- Minor Premiers (19 wins 3 losses - 142%)
- 2 Finals played (2 wins)
- Day Premiers (96pt winning margin, a record that stood until 2007)
- Night Premiers (def Geelong by 7 pts)
- Coleman Medalist (Jason Dunstall 132 goals)

Obviously there are not the individual accolades that came with the Geelong side of 2007, but as a TEAM I would think that they truely deserve to be mentioned with the greatest of the 'modern era'

Yeah true Brod, but perhaps it's just a memory thing. Recalling from 1995 to current day is a lot easier.

The thing was with Hawthorn in the 80's was the 4 flags and 3 runners up, was a great era, but the 80's
were only dominated by three teams Hawthorn, Carlton & Essendon.

Great times and great footy 8)
