The league appreciates trhe support of all fans and this week takes note of a quirky theory that has been doing the Internet rounds among supporters contributing to the SANFL based online forums.
We all know there are 9 SANFL clubs but what is it about tis year's SANFL Finals series and the number 9 ?
SANFL Finals are held in September - the ninth month (and "September" has 9 letters).
The Eagles ended their finals streak this year after 9 finals appearences in a row.
Centrals and Sturt each kicked 9 goals in the Qualifying Final (Central 9.13 - Sturt 9.10)
Glenelg and Centrals each kicked 9 behinds in the Second Semi Final (Glenelg 11.9 - Centrals 16.9)
The Doggies went into their ninth consecutive Second Semi Final last weekend and has made it into another Grand Final - it's 9th in a row.
This year's Magarey Medal even appeared to have a special connection to the number 9.
The 2008 Magarey Medallist Luke Crane has 9 letters in his name as does runner up James Boyd.
The broadcasters who covered the Magarey all have a 9 in their names - Channel 9 did the live crosses, while the 2 radio stations who broadcast live where ABC 891 and LifeFM 107.9
