Id play small (and rest Otto up forward) and give Lonergan the chop which is sad considering what hes gone through.
Stokes might be next on the line after Tom .

I don't think we should go short. Ottens number one responsibility is to kickstart our midfield in the Ruck as I don't rate Renouf and Campbell. If he bags a few goals up forward that is a bonus. Leave out Lonners and your robbing Peter to pay Paul as we lose the flexibility. If we are top heavy we can rest a ruckman, if we only have the two rucks and Mooney if could affect our ability to control the centre and that is how we'll beat Hawthorn IMO. During a day match I'm backing the decision to keep Lonners all the way. I reckon they've made the right move.

Wojinski is the logical omission. He's only played once since round 15 and as a player who plays on nearly every time he gets the pill this makes him something of a one trick pony. Also, he is one of our most undisciplined players and this was one of the reasons that he ended up in the magoos in the first place. Anyone left out is unlucky but I reckon the Cats have made the right choice once again. Just like last year, they've got it right at the selection table.

Late rumor; Varcoe carrying injury, its hammy or calf.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Wojinski may breathe again...........I don't believe in Grand Final week rumours but if Varcs isn't right then the Cats won't play him. Leave the selection of injured players to the other mob.

Hmmmm...as much as it pains me to wrap up a Smithfield bloke - go Travis Varcoe!
What a talent.
Best player to come out of Smithfield since 'Mullet' Roe!

Some more thoughts ....

The Hawks' strength is their forward line - however the Cats' defence is arguably theirs. Altho they are high scoring, the Cats are also one of the league's best defensive units (I think they have only given up something like 60 points per game all season?). So, to me, that area of the ground is break even. But if the Hawks just break even in their forward line then it becomes very tough for them to win.

I think Geelong have the edge in the midfield and I think their forward line is better than the Hawks' defence. That's 2 out of 3 for the Cats with the midfield being the most important area, arguably.

I also think Geelong know they have a window for greatness (back to back or more ) which will start to close after 2009 when a lot of their best players head into the 28/29+ age catageory. Conversely, the Hawks may have "it's OK we'll be back next year anyway" in the back of their minds.
In between signatures .....

these two sides are by far the best in the comp and may even do a Sydney West Coast... that'd be great, either way they're bound to get within 20 goals...

tips;

geelong by 9pts
Norm Smith- Stevie J
1st Goal- Mark Williams
Buddy to kick 6.4

Went to the TAB today (dont leave til 8.30pm :D ) and as a mug punter on sportsbet I could only fing Norm Smith medallist and winner-loser but not first goal kicker. I wanted Stokesy for 1st goal but put $5 on Chapman ($21) and $5 on Ottens ($21) for the Norm Smith.

Grand Final day (well, week) nothing beats it.

The BBQ, the bets at the TAB, all the footy shows, the parade, the TAC Cup GF, everything builds to the big game.

As for the betting side of things, I've got this feeling Ottens could win the Norm Smith. And I might put one on most disposals, Bartel surely!
