Saw the Devils play a few times this year and there isn’t much talent there guess that why the won back to back spoons.

The state league will be a good thing for footy in Tassie as the Devils were a bit all over the place, this year was the first in a while they had the whole team together in Hobart to train and play. Tassie also had a BIG north v south rivalry (not just restricted to sport) so they didn’t get much support from the north.

Can’t wait to see the Glenorchy v Launceston game in the state league next year. They were due to play a game state grand final this year but Launceston got the shits when AFL tas wouldn’t pay for there accommodation in Hobart.

Jace Bode would surely be a chance to return to Unley. Brodie Hollands would probably be targeted by some clubs and.... weirdos....possibly on this forum.

Got any potential names Phil ???

Centrals have had a bit of a history recruiting Tasmanians...

Ian Callinan, Ben Britton, Travis Ronaldson, Keiran McShane just to name a few...

With Callinan and McShane hopefully sticking around at Centrals in '09, may help lure a few of the Tassie Devils to Doggyland...

Agree, Kilo it would be great. Pitty for us (not him) that Dewy didn't return this year. The problem was we thought he was coming back and Cam Faulkner thus not much recruiting was done. Then to lose Grima and Obst was a spanner in the works. Hopefully it wont matter GF day.

North Adelaide announced Koops as a signing before the season ended.

Of course, how could I forget the great man (RIP) Daniel Hulm, I apologise profusely !!!

There was another one that came over from Tassie with him, Stevie Wright (then Centrals coach) brought them both over from Clarence in Tasmania...

I think it was Mark "Jughead" Jones (not the former Norwood and Broadview player)

I certainly rate Eddie Sansbury, I went ot school with him and was good mates) and think he would be a great pick up for next year, a bit more pace through the midfield would be very handy.

I always rated Whoopie (Adrian Wilson) as well and thought it was a real shame that he ended up playing at Kilburn this year. Good to hear he is trying to trim up and possibly look at coming back to the club with cousin Alex Stengle. I hope the club let them try out again if that's what they are looking to do, otherwise they would be good pick ups for other SANFL clubs.

And I'm sure the club would take Stuart Dew back with open arms if he goes out an a Premiership high with the Hawks and decides to come back home to Adelaide. Good luck on the weekend Dewy...

Stengle tried to go back to Centrals this year but was to he was no longer required...... might hurt his chances for next season

I agree Kilo, but he did made the choice to leave because he was frustrated at not getting an opportunity at league level and then he wanted to come back to the club and I suppose the coaching staff decided he wasn't 100% committed having left earlier so decided not to take him back. He will have to prove to them otherwise if he wants another opportunity at Centrals. If he can convince them he is willing to persist in the 2's as long as it takes, (look at Brayden O'Hara as an expample) he might be welcomed back but we will have to wait and see. Stinga is too good, like Whoopie, to be playing in the local league.

I thought of another AFL player who retired that might get some interest from SANFL clubs... Greg Tivendale (Richmond) ????

Big Phil wrote:I know the SANFL season still has 2 big games to go and of course the AFL has the final showdown this weekend...

BUT...

Some clubs have already delisted players and we heard of a few more in the last couple of days...

Got me thinking will there be any interest from SANFL clubs with some of these players who don't find another home at AFL level ???

We know there was rumour about Jeff White being linked to North Adelaide and I know that Centrals could do with a quality ruckman so would hope they look at him if he is available.

Peter Street was delisted by Western Bulldogs yesterday and of course Scott West was told he is no longer required by the club he gave so much to over an extended career.

Would these 2 guys get any interest from SANFL clubs ? I would think so, even Scott West at his age would have a couple of good years left in him in the SANFL and would still look good running around as a red, white and blue Bulldog in the SANFL.

I think ruckman Peter Street would get a bit of interest as well and like mentioned above with the Dogs need for a good ruckman for next year, the former Geelong beanpole might be on Kris Grant's radar for 09.

Of course Centrals (and Glenelg or Sturt) stil have more important things to worry about this year before adressing their playing list for 09 but it will be interesting to see what eventuates with possible AFL delisted players being hunted by SANFL clubs. I guess time will tell hey...

I would think Scott West will play in Melbourne somewhere. Some of the money that gets spent over there in the Essendon footy league is crazy. Some clubs are spending up to 300k, so i would thing someone like himself who would average 35-40 touches a week would be paid accordingly.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but former West Adelaide junior Chris Schmidt has been delisted by the Lions. Chris is only 19 and has only been on the list for 2 years so this comes as a massive surprise to me. He was regarded as one of SA's best talents in his draft year and was expected to go reasonably early. I think Brisbane took him with pick 34 or something, and he played 2 games in his debut season. I would expect him to be picked up by another club, possibly Adelaide or Port.
