Nah won't work, Couchey lives with Grima & Kirkby, so he'd defecting to the Bays and this "new recruit" from Geelong will then join
his ex VFL team-mates at the Bay

I am pretty sure the club is aware of that threat .

in regards to Skippy..... interesting that someone earlier said "who would be happier.... the Eagles or North" ..... as i first heard about it from someone high up in North before I heard it from the Eagles?

Are North chasing him with the enticement that Ben Hart may coach them next year?

team mates at the Crows and Ben's dad is Skippy's manager....

although the Eagles are confident he will return to them as I understand......

Skipworth @ North?
Where would this leave me? like a cat with a piece of buttered toast strapped to it's back- suspended in mid-air & spinning around....

The midfielder i think you are talking about is being flown down by the Central District Football Club next weekend to enjoy the Grand Final atmosphere and be lured into playing for the Dogs in 2009. If it is the same guy the Dogs nearly had him this season but fell through in the last minute.

I hope this is not another case of being out bid (by whatever means ) by Centrals for a player again!! And surely the Eagles are chasing more than one(currant or former) VFL Player .
Because if the club is not those who take the responsibility for recruiting should be shown the frigging DOOR!!!!
I for one have had enough of missing the final series !!!

Mickyj Im sure by now the Board is well aware of how much vitriol they can exspect next year if a big improvement isnt forthcoming with both recruits & a serious tilt at another flag ! People who normally say very little at games etc. will be on the warpath , especially because of our last 2 years going 3rd now 6th ( didnt it feel so much worse than that ? ) . Even you wont be so accommodating when it comes to your little friend on our Board , I suspect ! Eagles fans are small in number , but quite nasty when annoyed , & the Board will wear the flack in a big way if Ron isnt given a fair crack re recruits .

CD can not be blamed for recruits Holden .
Really it should have been worse felt very much like Bruce winters last year to me .
And the club needs to wake up re the age of WWT players .Its a wonderful thing to have players 30 plus playing.BUT in the overall scheme of a year those players(yes I am a fan of those guys) were to old to injury prone and to slow .But what were the selectors to do with recruits who went home and others being project players.
Not a good year at Oval ave on the field .Except for the seconds etc who would have thought the two's would be playing in the finals.Well done two's .
2008 a year to be forgotten
2009 a year to be in the GF and winning it no matter how it is done!!

Holden..Does this mean you have made contact with the club to pass on your feelings?

Its great to see that supporters are annoyed by the performance this year because it shows that "our club" has developed a winning culture. IMO a winning culture is something that money can't buy and it starts at the top and filters down to the kids comming through the junior grades and ultimately ends up with the supporters having bragging rights at work and school on Mondays. Our best recruits for next year might be right under our noses playing in Preliminary Finals in the Under 19's and Reserves this weekend, where they will be working hard to continue the winning culture. I have seen comments from North supporters in other threads regarding the players they have lost from there successful Reserves and Junior teams a few years ago because they couldn't see a future at their club, maybe spending big money on gun recruits doesnt guarantee success and a winning culture long term, after all we finished ahead of North this year and knocked them out of the reserves last weekend, even though they had won 4 more games than us during the year.
Trust the process.

Members are always welcome to be in contact directly with me giving name and contact details and are always given the courtesy of a direct reply and respect for being in contact. Which is also the case for any contact with the CEO or President.

I do share the disappointment of 2008 season and will be doing all i can to support the club to get back to top 3 spot (minimum) in 2009.

Once again i say - Holden please be in touch - with your passion rather than get angry volunteer to assist the club.
