South are the only team to have a positive record against Glenelg this year (2-1)- Central have 2-2 record now; Eagles 1-1. But under the "bitch partnership" rules, there is one team that Glenelg are still bitches of, and it isn't South.

Just trying to be serious for once - I would like to see south successful (not to win premierships against the doggies of course, but maybe coming 2nd or 3rd) as this would be good for the southern zones and hopefully bring more members and spectators to the SANFL.
We used to be good :-(

Success will come to them eventually... It might take another 10 or even 20 years but it will happen.

Everyone admire's Central's success this past decade.
But how about comparing South and Central from 1964-2000? Not a lot of difference there.

Perhaps they could merge with Encounter Bay or someone.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Correct - none at all, in terms of the only thing that counts.

I just did the numbers, and the records of the two clubs from 1964-2000 (inclusive) are virtually identical.

In those 37 years:

both teams made 13 finals appearances each;
rounded to the nearest whole number, both teams had an average finishing position of 6th (South 6.46, Central 6.08);
both teams won one premiership each - South in 1964, Central in 2000;
South made one other grand final and lost, central made two other grand finals and lost.

I picked 1964 because that was the year Central joined the SANFL and the last year South won a flag. So, back to my original point and that is that whilst everyone admires Central's achievements since 2000, the Bulldog's record was essentially the equal of South between 1964 and 2000 (when the Dogs won their first flag).

Except South Adelaide won their flag at a time when the SANFL as a competition were comparable with any in the country.

And South had been established 80 years by the time we started. Perhaps a slight advantage.
