Good question clarence.

Nothing the club does, IMO, will be as special as that first flag.

But I still get on the edge of my seat each September/October, I still go over the top with my supporting both at the games and online  and I still want to do this all over again next year, win or lose in a fortnights time.

Good luck to Centrals, they went through so many years of being near the bottom of the ladder in the 1970's-80s that they have earned it through sheer courage on and off the field. If the other SANFL clubs dont like it then perhaps go hire Alan Stewart to undertake a review of the club and go find out what they need to do to be competitive....

CC, I'm absolutely bloody stoked that we've made another GF.
Growing up not winning any sort of finals until my 23rd year, the constant cries of "show us yer premierships", the constant derision of myself and my community because of our socio-economic status all add up to me being very excited about the possibility of adding another flag.
It's certainly a different type of joy to what it was in 2000, nothing can ever replicate that, but it is strong satisfaction nonetheless.
I still cry after a premiership because it means so much to me.
This year, if we win will be one of our best as we'd been written off by many this season.

Hang in there Westies and Southies supporters, your time will come.

Don't bag the Dogs for being such a success though...their time at the bottom of the ladder will come too.

Sam_goUUUDogs made a good point in saying that Centrals dominance has probably been good for the overall standard of the competition.

Yes - it may motivate the other clubs to decide whether they are there a social and partying clubs or there to win at the sport.

Good question Clarence.

The 2000 premiership was just a relief - to finally win one after first making the finals in 1972 sometimes it seemed like we would never do it.

But there is great satisfaction in being a part of a club that has been through the bad times and has matured to become one of the powerhouses of the comp. I will be there on October 4 and be feeing just as nervous as 2000. I hope that we can continue to be successful as long as possible and rewrite the history books.

Whilst 2000 was special i still get as excited as its a different journey every year, also as a player I played until i was 36 played in two GF's and lost them both so I just live the footy dream through my club.

The neutral fans will never attend another GF until they're out of the picture so the days fof 35+ crowds are over for the time being.

I only got to Adelaide Oval yesterday as the scores from the first game were being taken down.
There was a rumour going around that Norwood got BELTED.

Excellent question, CC.

There was nothing quite like the first flag. The CDFC had finally proved - most importantly to itself - that it could be at it's best when it counted. The ball was finally rolling.

With last Sunday's win, all the CDFC has done so far this year has earned the right to play this week's winner. Anything short of a win on October 5th is unacceptable.

IMO, the way the CDFC responded to failure, particularly 2002, has been the most satisfying - the CDFC accepts nothing short of a premiership. That's something I'll never tire of.

No, definitely not in the same league as 2000 and 2001. The first was very special, as was the repeat in 2001.
To be quite honest, I am stunned we've maintained such a high billing. Not wishing it, but a few years of lesser results might re-strengthen the appetite.

You make some good points.

Dont think this is an anti CDFC thread at all. If anything, its an anti 'the other 8 clubs' for not being good enough to keep CD out of a GF.
I stayed for the 1st qtr of the 2nd Semi. The dogs kicked the 1st few and the CDFC fans presence where audible. However, when he bays kicked their first it was deafening. I agree that the crowd would have been larger had it been Glenelg v Sturt. I even know CDFC supporters that pick and choose which GF they go to coz they know its an annual event. :?

In my eyes, no excuses for not attending the GF this year.

CC, there is no doubt that 2000 will always be the most special. As Central supporters, we are perhaps lucky that we were alive to witness our first premiership. The feeling was extra special due to the very long wait, sometimes thinking it would never happen,
Am still excited about each GF appearance. I perhaps am more nervous than excited though - nervous that the run will come to an end. Each day brings that end closer, and I don't want it to end.
Tigersupporter, Central are not the same as we have been in some seasons. There is no doubt that our depth is weaker (witnessed by only fifth in the reserves and real struggles in the junior grades). Overall I don't think we have the skill level that we had in earlier seasons. What we do have though is a self-belief, a desire and a never-say-die attitude. The players are playing beyond themselves (if such a thing is possible) to try to continue the run of success. I really do tip my lid to my team at the moment. If we manage to win in two week's time it may be the greatest achievement the club has had to date as this was one premiership most of us did not think was going to come. Still not confident it will come, but if it does it sure will be special!
Cheers

Really? I thought Sturt and Norwood stepped up in 2002; and what about us in 2005 (only % off of top after the minor round), and joined by North in 2006?
