The only difference being that I don't think any of the other six clubs expected a premiership this year. Well, maybe North...

well sturt looked very good today but played an injury riddled team (thanks to sportsbet for the $1.50 what a gift) anyway i wouldn't think glenelg could play that poorly again & this game will go down to the wire, it was said at the club tonight (don't know how much this bloke knows) that sherwood will play next week, as with the other glenelg sturt battles this year it'll go to whoever wins the middle in a close encounter
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Glenelg for me,Sturt were impressive but I have a feeling the Bays will bounce back from their loss today.

The Bays should bounce back but not enough to beat Sturt, Glenelg will go out in straight sets & the Double Blues will beat Centrals Grand Final Day in September.

Glenelg will do a South Adelaide of 1991....out in straight sets!!!

We did it in 99 against Norwood and the Hybrids, and IMHO we'll do it again

I'd have rather finished 3rd at the end of the minor round and won today. Bah Humbug to Minor Premierships.

Ridiculous comment. Dogs only got home in the last term as they did the week before. CD would surely much rather be playing Genelg than Sturt in the GF.

By cranking it up in the 4th quarter. That implies that we were not at full speed in the first 3 quarters. That indicates a less than 4 quarter effort from the dogs. Not so ridiculous.

i think zippy is referring to the 'had' in the statement, so zippy is implying that the dogs indeed did have to play 4 qtrs against the blues...history shows they didnt and still won...a worrying sign.

i think i have that correct zippy, so please let me know?

I'm done with the 2nd Semi Final review thread, you can't change history only shape it.

Time to get the injuries right and so who pulls* up for this week.

We played a side that played for three quarters yesterday as opposed to the week before when they only kicked it up for a quarter.

I am confident we can win this week with key personel who have shown all year they can cover Sturts key targets and our midfield can more than match Sturts midfield. A return to our starting back six. I am expecting the Glenelg side that rocked up for Port at Alberton two weeks back to appear next Sunday.

I am confident of a win this week and then another crack at the dogs which will be tough.

<edit>

Bays to win by 2 goals

This time we might be able to play with 21 instead of 19 like we did at the Bay in June
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

looking forward to this game...by the sounds of it the blues returned to some devastating form v the legs and the should be hell bent on bouncing back.

i feel confident the blues can play at their best, whether or not that is good enough to beat the bays waits to be seen.

So you are trying to tell us , Centrals were not trying full pelt the first three quarters, ie. they were not at full speed, ( like we were in 3rd gear & " cranked " it up a gear in the fourth) ?
Is that what you mean or have I misinterpreted you smac?
I don't think any team in the comp. can afford to cruise along for 3 quarters & crank it up at will, not even the Dogs.

I'm not saying it was intentional, that we were playing with Sturt. Far from it - we have just struggled to play consistent 4 qtrs of footy this year.

One quarter of our best footy was (just) enough to beat Sturt.

I have no preference for a GF opponent, either Sturt or Glenelg would be damn tough to beat.

I agree with smac.

We didn't play 4 quarters of quality football against Sturt - we were slow to start and made some appalling skill errors in the first half. We ground the game out and were lucky to win - only hitting the front after 3 misses in a row.

I feel that we played 4 solid quarters against Glenelg, finished better, tackled better, defended better. I hope that in the GF we continue our improvement and play our best game for the year.
We used to be good :-(

Care to remind me when Sturt last beat us in a final...

I'll think you find it is more than just one finals win on the trot....
