It sounds like we ran out of gas today. The Port match must have taken too much out of us. I don't think we were up with the top three all year so not really expecting a win today. Well done to the Blues who are bit more experienced than us at the moment and are the better side who played the better footy on the day.

regards,

REB

Yes well played Sturt.
It looks like Norwood may have to have a look at fitness issues for 2009, looking at what happened in both finals and during the season.

I would have said Sturt won it in the first quarter when Norwood were kicking with the breeze and unable to lead at quarter time.

Norwood battled valiantly for the next 25 minutes but then 2 goals in a minute virtually guaranteed sturt of a match winning break at half time.

John McDonald made a very good return to league football and gave Sturt some xfactor accross centre and by memory he kick 4 for the day.

Norwoods use of the ball on the few occassions that they had time and space was rather average. I could not question their endeavour they where just out classed on the day.

Taylor still looks the goods for the crows but I think today showed that you are better off playing him from behind rather than in front. It just pushes him further away from goal and makes his game predictable. He still did well considering the supply he had.

Trotter, the boy can really kick a football. A pity he cant get his body right.

???Have the Blues played their GrandFinal too early...???

I don't think so...

I think Glenelg are going to be pretty nervous coming into the Sturt game. Like Norwood, they play a game that suits Sturt and I'm starting to think that the Tigers are going to go out in straight sets.

Disappointing for them if they do...

But saying it happens, I have to admit, I'd be going into the grannie pretty confident against the Dogs. Based on the first final, I'm willing to back Sturt against them, as when it comes down to it, for 3/4 Roy's plan wasn't working.

Still, kudos to Centrals, another GF play-off, amazing record and congrats to the club for keeping the standard so high...

Yes Jimmy, Norwood can be pleased about their season of work. Unfortunately we cannot be pleased about the effort we put in today. It was substandard, and embarrassing for a 1st Semi Final.

It was hard to guage how good Sturt were because Norwood continued to cough the ball up when going forward, we did it all day. You could count the number of marks inside 50 on one hand. We have this neurotic compulsion to make the ball bounce at least twice before it reaches it's target. Did it ALL day!!!

To give an idea of the difference between the two sides, Norwood's best player today was Trotter, easily. And yet, he wouldn't have been in the best 10 players on the ground.

Unfortunately, the only way Norwood can win is to jump out of the box and set up a lead. The moment we slip behind, we drop off completely. Cockshell wouldn't have been able to mark the ball if he had a texta colour in his pocket!! Conditions must have been too perfect for him.

I was disappointed to see Stewie Bown and Matty Dawes chaired from the ground after the game, it is obviously their last matches. They have been wonderful servants for Norwood and always give 100%. We have too few of these types of player already, so we are going to need to recruit very well in the off season.

The game plan .. a shammozzle. I have no idea what we were trying to achieve out there today .. none whatsoever. Norwood scored 5 of our 9 goals in "junk time" when Sturt had taken their feet of the pedal, otherwise it would have been a lot worse. The word going around the club prior to today was Hill may hold onto his job due to some encouraging performances. After today, they may need to re-think that strategy.

Today was a little like round 1 at Norwood Oval. You almost felt you wanted to call for a count because everywhere the ball went, there were at least 1-2 more Sturt players at the ball than Norwood ... sometimes 3, and on one occasion there was 4!!! One Norwood player trying to beat 5 Sturt players. And you looked around the field and STILL couldn't find any loose Norwood men. We just didn't work anywhere near as hard as Sturt did today, and good luck to them for the rest of the finals.

All he's really saying is that he believes the team he supports will win next week. Fair enough opinion given the Tiger's effort today. There is definitely more pressure on them going into the game than Sturt. How will Rudolph pull up. If it were me I'd certainly rest him this week if there's any doubt

If you re-watch the sturt v dogs game I think roys plan worked to a treat. Hold the game up for 3 qtrs and not let sturt get to far in front, then storm home in the last. Reallistically we should have won by more, missing about 4 easy shots in the last.

I think any team will be confident going into a GF. It all comes down to who the better team is on the day.
