Reserves Preliminary Final - Glenelg vs Eagles

Postby eaglehaslanded » Sat Sep 20, 2008 7:12 pm

To be played at Adelaide Oval on Sunday 28th September

Can the Tigers stop the rampaging Eagles ? Or will the Tigers be too hard to tame.

I'm predicting an Eagles win. I believe them to be the 2nd best side in the Reserves grade at the current time having won 5 of their last 6 games by an average winning margin of 41 pts incl their 2 finals wins. Both of these sides have 1 win a piece in head to head battles. Should be a fantastic battle.

Glenelg will get two maybe three big ins, next week.

Eagles last loss was to this team.

Glenelg should win, mind you North should've won today.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Well at least there are 2 reasons to go to the prelim final next week.

I just hope I don't get a third reason tomorrow [-o<

How much will a huge 90 + point loss today hurt the bays psychologicaly though. There will be a few issues there I would have thought. Eagles run into next week full of confidence. It should be a crackerjack game.

Glenelg lost the reserves 2nd semi final last year by 13 goals...

that is very true however this sturt team is a lot lot better than last years south team, infact this sturt team would give south & westies league team a big big run for their money

tas, if glenelg win the prelim i'll give you any price you want glenelg to reverse the result in the gf (& i'd be stoked if i was wrong) so would you like to back us ?

Mate I'm not even thnking about teh GF I'm just thinking about making it, first. As you said Sturts ressies would've finished abouth South and West if they could play league.

Head to Head:
Played 54: Eagles 30 Glenelg 23 Drawn 1
Finals 8: Eagles 5 Glenelg 3
P-Finals 1: Eagles 1 Glenelg 0

The Preliminary Final that these two sides have met, was in 2001, when Glenelg scored two behinds over the final three quarters; the score being Eagles 10.15 Glenelg 2.6. That was the last Reserves Preliminary to be played at Football Park.

The last final that these sides have played in resulted in a 116 point win to the Eagles in the 2006 Elimination Final - 26.10 to 7.8.

It is certain that none of those two matches results will be emulated this time around. Glenelg deserve favouratism, but each side has won one meeting this year. Funnily enough, the other League team won both times.

Rd 2: Eagles 19.11 Glenelg 14.14
Rd 21: Glenelg 19.12 Eagles 9.17

Is that the same south side that beat the bays twice?
