Great work by the boys - A very good win indeed. Now off to the prelim final. Can we pull off another upset  or would it be an upset  We've hit form at the rght time of the season and if this keeps up we could possibly be carrying another reserves premiership cup.

North really fell away in the finals, I guess the unrest around the place may have played a part but obviously with the result today the Eagles were way too good

I agree that Sturt look the best side in that grade but no team is unbeatable and the Eagles are the 2nd best side in the 2's at the current moment.

Eagles 4.5 9.8 13.8 19.10 (124)
North 3.2 6.3 10.6 12.6 (78)

I do have most of the Eagles scores except for two behinds: Redden 3.0, Klun, Fiacchi, Lee, Staple, Couch, Jolly 2.0, Lane 1.1, McEntee, Fitzgerald, Malinovski 1.0, Almond, Goldsworthy 0.1, Rushed 0.5.

It was a nice surprise for me that they won. However, the tone was set in the first five minutes of the match when the ball was in our forward line in that time. North grabbed the lead in the 2nd quarter, only for us to kick the last 3.1 of that term.

I thought Staple was outstanding today; he did an excellent blind turn in the third, and passed to Redden who was on his own in the square. Redden looked imposing at full-forward with his height, and kicked those three goals. Klun and Malinovski with their League finals experience was also prominent throughout the match.

Maybe the desperation of the players can be summed up with the goal in the last quarter to McEntee. I didn't see who the North player who was rushing a behind by knocking it through, but McEntee saw it coming, and was able to stick his leg out so that the ball brushed it on the way to the goal line. I've never seen a goal like that before.

In the Q&A in the Budget today, Craig Evans replied to 'The best advice given' with this: "It was from Rick MacGowan: If you think you can or can't, then you're probably right."
It is up to the Eagles reserves players to block out the word "can't" from their minds.

That's correct, and it would serve the media well to remember that when declaring unbackable favourites in finals. Good to see the big fella Prime still on the park. He was an outstanding FF for Norwood back in the early 90s.
