If Hargraves went out to an U/17 match and belted someone, sure whinge then, but if he didnt.......

Sorry to bug you again, Booney, it is not personal. The traditional Fos Williams brutality method from the 50s and 60s lives on.
Back then of course you only had to take out three kids to leave your opponent one man short on the field. Your guys forgot that no longer works.

I thought it was part of the club culture passed on through the administration and coaches, and couldn't change... 8)
Seriously, I think that attitude is still strong in Aussie Rules, to the detriment of what would otherwise be a great sport.
I'm looking forward to seeing some Gaelic Football matches while based in the UK next year, for comparison.

OK then its ok to belt any player regardless of age.

I withdraw my "just over half your age" section of my previous post.

The age of the 'beltee' is irrelevant when considering the offence by the 'belter'. The age only has a bearing in determinig the depth of cowardice involved, IMO.

I wasn't talking about giving up my interest in SANFL, and Norwood, but you posed an interesting question.
There is a Gaelic Football forum in SA, though I don't know enough about the game to take part, having never seen a full match. My interest has been kindled recently by the televised hybrid matches here.

I think he had to be reported. A player went down in what you would have to say was off the ball and was concussed. They need to look into it even if it was accidental. It will be interesting to see what happens as normally you would say he would just get a reprimand at SANFL level but perhaps the video replay had a better shot of it.

The ball was travelling over thier heads as contact was made, hardly behind the play.

From the limited vision I had of the incident it was a stray arm that hit the wrong spot as they were both wrestling each other for position, this may or may not be the case and everyone will have thier own opinion regardless of the tribunal and the decision they make.

I do not condone 'belting' people in the game, but dont go and have a cry because the 'victim' is only young....perhaps he could get his Mum to have run out with a hanky...

I always laugh when people bring age into it. The guy is playing league football. Its not an adult belting a pre-teen child who hasnt yet grown his first pube. Are you against 18 year olds being tackled as well? Maybe we should go back to a two-bump rule if your under 20 playing league.

Sorry boon, I have only half read this thread until this topic came up - if it were a part of play then age is nothing to the offense, I agree.
