not quite right mal tasmania (not the whole country) was called 'van diemans land' as a mark of respect as his dutch fleet LANDED on the west australian coast well before captain cook & co arrived

CAPTAIN COOK incorrect as stated by BAYMAN as well When did the VAN come over was it about 1636ish ?
