I know this has been stated already in this thread but Chambers kicked his goal in the 2nd quarter, and Sturt dominated the game up until three quarter time when they were still almost 4 goals up, and probably should've been further in front. Don't blame the crowd for the loss, it's just looking for excuses.

Why Sturt tried to zone with a couple of minutes left and Centrals had about 10-15 uncontested between Aufdeheide and Williams (I think it was these two, correct me if I'm wrong) was just dumb football. Cost them 60-90 seconds of time they needed to kick another goal. Crane's miss didn't help much either.

Central started with a very small forward line (5 smalls and Westhoff), with Lawry on the bench. Didn't really work that well. Schell floating forward later on was instrumental, with Aufderheide on Chambers and Sibenaler on Perrie not sure why it didn't happen earlier.

First SANFL games I've seen all year and was a very good atmosphere. But if it was on the Saturday I wouldn't have gone, and neither would the other 5-6 guys I was sitting with.

Chambers 100th goal came in the 2nd quarter.
At half time Sturt were up by 3 points,
At 3/4 time Sturt were up by 23 points .
Lost the game by 3 points more than an hour after the ground invasion.
Game was lost by the players on the field not the spectators who entered the arena.
p.s they weren't all Sturt supporters,I saw plenty of Port and Norwood scarves out there too.

Yeah maybe costing the game is a bit harsh, but gee you had all the momentum, the game stops Centrals players gather together regroup discuss tactics - following a few minor scores Centrals get three quick goals to go in 3 pts down at 1/2 time.

Gee imagine if there wasn't a break in play at that point. if it wasn't the most pivotal moment in the game it was damn close.

Alright, there have been a heap of posters blaming the ground invasion for the loss, but this post I think has hit the incorrect assumption right on the head.

Sturt kicked the next goal after the ground invasion.
They still had the momentum.
Feast was then lining up for another shot at goal, from 20 meters out. Had he put it through it would have been the second goal after the invasion.
An undisciplined act way off the ball by another Sturt player caused a free to be given to Centrals. The Dogs goaled from the resultant play.
Feast never kicked the goal because the ump' saw an infringement off the ball. The Dogs were good enough to take advantage and goal from that position.

Then there was the big final quarter choke.

Sturt players blew it big time!

One side knew 'how to win', and wanted it more.
The other side had the game effectively 'won', but didn't know how to finish it off.

I had expected Sturt to turn the tables from the week earlier. Very hard for Sturt to win from here - as another poster wrote, only once has a team lost a Quallie and won a flag, whereas two times sides have come from Elimination final wins.

IMHO, Buckets clearly B.O.G...

Go the Dogs...

Well done the Dogs!!! Listening on ABC Radio, phew! The point is at the end of the day the scoreboard tells the story. Good luck for next week, they have beaten Glenelg at least once this year so can do it again. Well done Norwood, and Taylor Walker will play in a red, gold and blue gurnsey most of next year, hopefully.

I think the best thing you can say about ground invasions is at the very least they can't ever have a positive effect for the team whose player kicks the goal. Whether it's a hindrance or not will never truly be known but normally when you kick a goal, you want to get the ball out of the middle and get another straight away. Back to back goals in a hurry kills teams and wins finals. I felt it was always going to either have no effect on the game, or help the dogs. Bringing up stats to try to prove a point is ridiculous. No doubt it wasn't the only factor for Sturt losing, but you can just as easily say that Sturt may have been 30 points up at half time instead of 3. Still think it's dumb of the supporters to do it when the game's not in doubt.

As for the Schell move, don't be surprised if Laird suddenly puts him up forward. With Aufderheide getting better and better for each run Laird will be happier and happier to rely on him more and more. Jezz, Evil and Hayes can do the job on talls if they're all fit and confidant. Then a forward line of Lawry (who could do with a dose of confidence to be honest) Matt Westhoff and Schelly looks as good a combination of talls as there are in this comp IMHO.

Thought it was vital that Buckets and Giles did a job in the ruck. They've been beaten for too many games since we lost Griffin and to get as much ball as they did while limiting the effect of Deluca and Feast meant we had effectively an extra midfielder.

Looking forward to another second semi. 9 in a row now. Could the dogs make it 9 second semi wins in a row?

Well there's something you don't see very often, somebody from West Adelaide using the word supporter in it's plural form.

No stereotyping, but perhaps you would think that SOME Doggies supporters would have learnt to win graciously by now?

Including the plethora of fans that were out there wearing red & blue, and, god forbid, red, white & blue?!

Still gutted by the result yesterday. Hats off to the Central's players. They certainly know how to sniff blood and take their chances come finals time. Watch out Glenelg...

Chambo worked tirelessly running from mark to mark late in the game and gained us a good 30 metres, as the Centrals defenders clamped up and backtracked. The turnover inevitably came and Crane just missed a tricky shot on goal straight into the breeze. Next time..

All is not lost. Get past the Legs this week and I will rate our chances against anyone. Heads up Blues!

Not sure how many of those supporters would have done it if the Sturt fans hadn't have. Can't blame the dogs fans for doing it, and really, when everyone else it doing it it's hard to resist the temptation. Especially given few people normally get to go on the Adelaide oval at all, let along while a game is being played.
