We will see a different Sturt Football Club come 3.10pm Sunday.

I have expressed my concerns on this forum about a certain AFL listed player before and unfortunately my fears were realised on Saturday night. We were effectively playing one short due to this players sulky, selfish attitude. One effort (for which he was immediately dragged) said it all about this players preparedness to roll his sleeves up.

His replacement will be prepared to spill blood for the double blue jumper.

Credit where credit is due, Centrals were terrific at the stoppages and their skills and execution were better at the crucial stages. They deserved thier victory. For all of that we were still in the game midway through the last quarter despite only being at about 70%. If not for poor finishing in front of goal when the momentum was all ours it could have been a different story, although as Rick MacGowan has stated we would have pinched it given our poor performance.

21 committed SFC players will take to Adelaide Oval this Sunday.

Go Blues.

Same thing could have been said for the game at unley earlier in the year, but it was the dogs who had momentum and blew easy shots in the last quarter, so to me that says that both sides are a bit more closer than people (sturt supporters) think.

Sturt wont be the only team with 21 committed players in that game.

As we said in the 70's:

Shame RPH, Shame for spreading that inappropriate false rumour about Fabian.

It'll only make the big guy angrier and hungrier for the Footy on Sunday. :D :D

I too heard this on the radio on Monday morning, but I don't think it was spread as a fact, but more of a "we have heard a whisper that ..........."

If you were so passionate about it, why didn't you ring up and dispute it then, rather than wait until now???

Saw Centrals train at Adelaide Oval tonight and they certainly looked sharp...

Should be another great game Sunday afternoon, just like last Saturday night (let's hope for the same result as well !!)

CENTRAL DISTRICT FOOTBALL CLUB LEAGUE SQUAD
SUNDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2008 Vs STURT @ ADELAIDE OVAL

Full Forward: Scott Dutschke, Luke McCabe, Ian Callinan
Half Forwards: Chad O'Sullivan, Heath Lawry, Chris Gowans
Centre Line: Brayden O'Hara, James Gowans, Elijah Ware
Half Backs: Andrew Hayes, Jeremy Aufderheide, Ryan Williams
Full Backs: Daniel Schell, Yves Sibenaler, Richard Cochrane

Rucks: Jonathon Giles, Paul Thomas, Matthew Slade

Interchange (from): Trent Goodrem, Louis Hadden, Jason Mackenzie and Matthew Westhoff

INS: Heath Lawry, Louis Hadden

OUTS: Adam Switala (knee) + 1 from extended bench

Unfortunately Adam Switala twisted his knee at training down at Adelaide Oval last night and will have scans to reveal the full extend of the damage. I don't believe it will need a reconstruction or anything but is strained and is likely to see him out of action for the rest of the finals.

I like the look of the side for this week and Heath Lawry coming back into CHF straightens us up a bit coming out of defence. Will be interesting to see who drops out of the extended bench, at this stage one would think Louis Hadden or Trent Goodrem. I think Matty Westhoff can play pinch hitting roles up forward or in defence if needed.

Should be a great game, very much looking forward to it, can't wait for Sunday now. Let's hope that we do get a big crowd for the day, at least 20,000 fans, we see a great elimination final between Port and Norwood, Chambo kicks his 100 early and we have a great Qualifying Final between the Double Blues and Dogs.

Gee the premiership race is wide open. I can make cases for Glenelg, Sturt and Central to win. Every time I think one team has the edge I change my mind. However if I had to pick one team, I'd go Sturt. I really dislike them, but I think the are the premiers of 2008.

I've been worried about buckets form of late. He's been a very good servant and has improved out of sight over the years, but just this season he's not got the ball much, while his opposite number has gotten a lot of touches regularly. Considering he's not a hit out type ruckman (his hit out stats are always low) he usually just concentrates on trying to stop the other ruckman getting an advantage in the ruck work and then tries to beat them by being an extra midfielder and attempts to get more touches. Problem is, when he does neither it really hurts us. I think Matty Westhoff and Heath Lawry can provide Jon Giles (who I think needs to take a few angry pills before each game or spend the day working with the Gowans brothers) with back up. Considering a team will rarely go into a match with two big blokes on the pine I think either one or the other will start on the ground or not play at all.

Will be interesting to see who fronts in the ressies.

After beating Sturt last week, and I felt it was under our control for most of the game, with the first 5-10 minutes and a 5 minute patch in the last it seemed like we were the better side. Sturt may well have not been at their best, but neither were we. And how much of Sturt's inability to produce their best was due to our pressure? If we get our hands on the ball first like we did on Saturday we should win.

DW,

Article in today's Advertiser says that he is obviosuly going to miss this weekend and is now just waiting on the results of scans for which he was seing the specialist today. I was at training on the night it happen and the initial feeling was that he wont need it reconstructed but has a strained ligament and could miss up to 6 weeks. So that would be curtains on the season obviosuly, whether or not he decides to go on next year reamins to be seen. I can't see any reason why not and although he is 30 years old, I couldn't see any reason why he wouldn't go around again for a couple of more years, considering 200 games would be well within his reach as well.

BP, I often look at the games played list and wonder how much that influences a player's decision to play on. Most players couldn't care less about a stat like that. I think a bigger carrot might be to avoid remembering his last league season for playing all year and then missing all the finals. No player deserves to play all year and lose his spot like that.
