Win/Win situation for Sturt and Brent.

Sturt can play someone who is passionate about the jumper & Brent can go out and drink p#ss with his fellow Crows......

LOL Thought of you MST as soon as I saw that article ... Agree though, doesn't matter who the name is, if they don't want to be wearing your clubs' guernsey in any given game then who wants them to??

I think its fair enough given the amount of games he has played for Sturt this season. Still, Sturt should have been told he wouldn't play finals and have the option of playing him in the reserves for the last part of the season so it doesn't unsettle their league side.

Just another reason for some Sturt fans to think less of Reilly...I said last week that not all Sturt fans like Reilly, and it would appear now they have extra reason not to.
Is 2009 the year of the Tiger?

Catch 22. He's not popular and why would you put in for people who dont like you and why would people not like you if you dont put in etc...
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Agreed MST. I don't think Rick will lose any sleep over it.

This whole situation of AFL listed players not wanting to play for their SANFL team in finals is really sad that it happens every year. I personally feel that taking that action shows contempt for the SANFL competition and the said players should then be deregistered from participating in the SANFL if that is how they really feel about it. If the player is not passionate for the side then let him go play parklands football. I dont see how it follows that the SANFL have to supply places for people that dont want to participate over those that would give their left nut to play a game of SANFL football.

I think the SANFL needs to change the qualification process, not sure exactly how they could do it though.

Vote on this poll GWW and we will send it to the SANFL so they can see the opinions of the fans...

A lot of unfair bagging of Reilly going on. Given his state of mind I am not surprised by his decision. Think about it, he's been injured virtually the entire season and has been in and out of the Crows side of late. He isn't selected for the Crows elimination final which would have been a massive blow for him. While the Crows were playing he would have been getting prepared to play for Sturt, a place and club he didn't really want to be playing for. The fact that he even qualified would have been a bit of a kick in the guts IMO. Cut him some slack.

My option is not in the poll. I've always thought the fair way to assess eligibility is the player has to play more games for his SANFL club than his AFL one, irrespective of how many games he's played.

All this is going to do is make SANFL coaches err on the side of non AFL listed players during the year if this is going to become the common thing.
As far as being mentally shot goes, what does that mean if the AFL season was still going? you're 'mentally shot' to be playing SANFL but all right to be playing AFL?

Couldn't agree more, I've said the same on the Norwood forum re: Massie. It's just a cop out. Lost all respect for the man. Lucky for them they play AFL where passion for the game and your club are not a necessary asset
