JUSTIN CICOLELLA 2009 MAGAREY MEDALLIST ?

Postby mal » Sun Sep 07, 2008 9:58 pm

Kinda like where are they now.
JC the star EG midfielder has been below par for 2 years now.
Season 2008 ravaged by injury and he has only played a handfull of games.
Today I watched JC and was impressed with his last qtr v PA in the last game of the year.
JC displayed some of his wizardry skills.
The baulk was back as was the ice cool elusiveness.
Question is will JC overcome his WATTO injuries and become an elite player again ?

If he does he can win the Medal in 2009

It would be great for the Eagles if Cicca could have a full season without injury interuption. I think what Mal is getting at, is that he displayed some of that magic today that made him one of the best in the SANFL and could still contribute to a high level if he can get himself right.

He might win it.... it depends a bit on which club he transfers to.

I don't think he is going to play for another club, he had a hard time moving over to Geelong only to come back a few weeks later.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cicca gave it away...we're talking about his efforts in the final term, but what about his lack of effort for the first three? From where I have been sitting in the past few weeks, having seen every game the Eagles have played in the past month, Cicca doesn't appear to have the hunger and passion for the game anymore. Granted he showed some glimpses of his best in the final term yesterday, but the game was well and truly over at that point. Where was his leadership and influence in the first three quarters, in what was billed as the club's chance to break into the final five?

I empathise with Cicca because I know how tough he has had things off-field, but he needs to be 100% honest with himself if he is to continue on next year. If he can give 100% every week to his club, then I hope he does go around again.
Is 2009 the year of the Tiger?

If you saw the Eagles and Port game you would have seen the best player in the competition and it is a JC, but of the Port variety. Jeremy Clayton is by far the best player in this competition. Whilst he cant win the Magarey this year, i think he will get the most votes, he has been outstanding. He is always in control, very rarely wastes a possession and is the greatest Port player not to play in a premiership.

I would agree he hasnt been at his best against Glenelg at the Bay or at Alberton last week, but i stand by my thoughts he will get the most votes in the Magarey.
Who do you see as better SJABC?

Best in comp ?

I'd throw a heap in together, yep Jezza, Allen, Callinan, Backwell, Crane, Chambers, McKenzie....

Too many good blokes in the SANFL to say one stands out from another.

I reckon Cicca has as much chance of winning the Magarey as the Gowans boys.

I believe Cicca's move to Geelong all those years ago was for penis, oops I mean personal reasons and returned when that all fell through.

With his burgeoning seafood empire expanding he may give SANFL away and play with his brother back home where his business is.

Would be surprised if he quit on that note. Reckon he'll want to get fit again. Still has plenty of good SANFL footy left in him.

I'll get into the spirit of this ....

I think Scott Burns can win if he resigns from Collingwood and comes back to play with Norwood. :)

CICOLELLA
He might be close to the most Mag Medal votes for a player who has never won the Medal ???
A fit and firing Cicolella would be a chance to win the 2009 medal
J CLAYTON
As for the other JC[CLAYTON] I agree that he is prob the best player in the SANFL
