Elimination Final: Norwood vs Port Preview

Postby topsywaldron » Sun Sep 07, 2008 6:04 pm

Can't wait. Hopefully the Legs will be bolstered by the return of our defence, Duigan, Kite, Zorzi and Davis didn't play today and should be more than handy inclusions.

On The Chin's whiteboard in the room he'd had written 'keep being too physical', a message I hope our coach echoes.

Norwood by seventeen points.
'People are not stupid. They know when they are being conned. And two reserves teams operating in a League competition will reduce it to a farce, a competition without a soul.'

Ivan Maric has chosen not to play finals.

From what's written on the NFC forum I understand that Kris Massie (who would have made his 3 games only by dint of a Souths 2nds game played a dozen or so weeks back) has done the same.

I don't think that it's weak as piss (or even p*ss). For a guy who technically qualifies as a result of games played earlier in the year, but regards himself as a Crows player now and is an integral part of their 22, it's a perfectly valid approach to say, 'when the Crows' season is over, my season is over'.

I'm happy enough with the current optional system, but if players who technically qualify are going to be required to play in the absence of injury, then clearly the qualification rules should be more stringent. In particular, as well as a games minimum across the whole year, the player should be required to have played a SANFL game within the last half-dozen or so matches played.

Could someone less lazy than me let me know who else the PAMs are liable to pick up from AFL clubs?

With Nick Lower apparently suffering a season-ending injury on top of Matt Thomas' season-ending injury, the answer for Norwood is: nobody (beyond those who played today and Kite who's been a Norwood player all year).

No chance...I'll bide my time and keep saving...my 'Norwood or bust' road trip is likely to be a one time only trip so I'm going to make sure I get my moneys worth. Not going to blow a fortune by going off half-cocked on a whim for the sake of just one game. I'd rather wait spend the money on seeing two or three normal League games plus the Ressies than just one game in the finals.

Not quite right Simon in Mass' case ... My understanding is that the Crows don't think it's right/fair/ethical for him to play for Norwood when he only played 2 games with us all season.

Would LOVE to have him there on the weekend, but I can understand where the Crows are coming from.

Correct weight JK.

Also, along with Kite we will have Walker and Campbell (fitness permitting for all of them).

Also, Jesus is likely to be called up after missing most of the season due to travel commitments with his job. He's earmarked for the crucial match up on Clayton.

I would be extremely surprised if it was by choice he didnt play finals. He really likes the club, i have seen him at Magpies coaching clinics, and at Magpies games when he isnt playing.
