Surprised that Centrals undercatered for tonight. Maybe it was payback for the catering woes at Unley in round 2 - but we can't blame Wendy's not turning up :D

reserves final score

cent 4.8.32 lost to sturt 15.13.103

league

central 1.3.9 8.4.52 11.4.70 14.5.89

sturt 4.0.24 6.0.36 8.3.51 11.7.73

both teams had their chances in an absorbing duel, there was no doubt in my mind that especially after quarter time that sturt was missing whitemans hardness & desperation around the ball & at the stoppages

what did everyone think of the surface ?

i thought they were 'kicking up' a lot of dirt/dust all over the ground & perhaps both teams could be leg weary next week if it has taken a toll

i think looking to next weeks game that the line ups will be crucial to the end result
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Centrals deserved the win. I'm disappointed that we squandered chances in the last to take the lead, but to get within 2-3 goals without any 4 quarter contributors was kinda comforting. Gotta take those chances though Blues!

The surface was crap. It is difficult to see the other side of the ground at Elizabeth at the best of times let alone the sight of the Simpson ******* Desert obscuring your view! I wonder if there will be any law suites regarding silicosis in the future? Never mind the lack of hot food after half time, and the DISGUSTING toilets (yes, worse than the Bay!), and the time clock in the last...CDFC lift your game for the supporters!

I've seen subcontinent cricket grounds kick up less dust than what I saw tonight. The surface was quite dusty. At least it wasn't a bog

No one to blame NM, but the players themselves. One in particular, who has quite a bit of talent, didn't put in IMO. I make no excuses whatsoever. Centrals one the midfield and the stoppages all night. Even in the first 1/4. My only gripes are with the condition of the ground & lighting (from a spectactors perspective), the lack of hot food, and the disgraceful condition of the toilets. I was looking forward to tonight win, lose or draw, and I have enjoyed games at Elizabeth in the past (which we have always lost)...what was dealt out to SANFL supporters tonight was very poor. Were you there?

glenelg have a great opportunity here as I wouldnt like to face the dogs again next week although atleast this time, we have the double chance.

well played dogs and go the legs ;)

They were only forcasting a crowd of around 4000 because of the Adelaide game that day, the Swans/Kangaroos game on the telly and the Royal Show being on.

If they had catered for around 5000/6000 and only 4000 turned up they would have lost a lot of money...so you have to think about that. :D

And besides, a good win for the Doggies, and though Sturt did blow a few chances in the early stages of the last quarter, we nearly threw the game in the first quater...so many times the dogs kicked long into the forward lines early, with no-one there but Sturt backman because all our forwards had worked
into the midfield.

wow how the season changes is Glenelg beat Norwood then the dogs will go into another Qualifying Final as warm favourates and if they manage to get over sturt they will propably be favourates to go straight in the GF again.

All positive signs from the dogs last night, very pleasing way to head into the finals. Looking forward to next week regardless of the opponent.

The ground issue is a strange one. I was out at a local park earlier in the day and noticed how hard and dusty the ground was, very unusual given it is only a few days since rain. I think it is something that caught the club by surprise given the weather of late.

The toilets were unacceptable, I would have thought Sturt supporters could be cleaner than that - have had no issues prior to last night  .

Catering was very disappointing, left me hungry.

IF Glenelg win (and it is no certainty) I believe Sturt can take solace in that they will play a Centrals next week on an oval that is closer in dimensions to Unley than Elizabeth and they game will not be played under lights.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

And they can worry that there were a couple of key players in the doggies who will be better for the run and our record in finals over the past 8 years has been awesome

Sorry, We simply MUST apologise for the non-AFL standard conditions We served up last night. Unfortunately We are not electricians but you are right, We should have stopped the game and had the time clock repaired. While that was being performed, We could have run a watering truck over the oval, like the ones they have at Speedway Park, or at the trots. As for the toilets, once again We must apologise but the towel attendants all had the night off, as they were attending a toilet towel attendant convention in Las Vegas. The catering? Who eats at 7.30pm anyway? Attend the pre-match President's Dinner with me & chow down on succulent, tender rack of lamb, washed down with copious amounts of fine red wine, or a jug or two of Tooheys Extra Dry! Yes, We certainly do have a LONG way to go until We can match Sturt's lofty standards.
(P.S., , if that helps)

Yeah, We like it but we've been through a lot of crap over the years, which makes success taste even sweeter now. Every club has its ups & downs & in 2 years We will probably be without Those nasty, awful Twins, Sladey, Schelly, McCabe, Switala, Richie Cochrane etc., etc., so We might have to endure a few years of struggle soon as well!

Richie Cochrane is only 12 years old isn't he? Still got plenty of footy left in him.
