The interview process:

" Hello Vossy ? "

"Yeah,this is Vossy"

"We got rid of Lethal, you want the job?"

"Yeah,I'll ring the Coasters and get out of that gig"

"Done"

I wouldn't think it would be a step in the right direction for Voss?

A bloody hard job to win a Premiership with that squad one would think.

The club is on the re-build and I think they will be on the downturn the next few years.

Would look bad on any coaches report card....

But the right $$$, maybe who cares....

Has Chocko been approached?
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

Yep, on the way up. Caught Freo's disease in the 2nd half of the season and forgot how to win, costing them a finals place.

They have a pretty good squad, but the 2nd tier of players need to improve if they are to match it with the big boys.

I was shocked to see this announced so quickly but i think he will make a great coach he really has a good understanding of the game.

Hooray the Boss is back!! :D I still go with my theory that Lethal will do a simular role of Balme at Geelong and that the Fly will be Vossys 2IC (was suggested last year when Voss was being talked about for Carlton). I wonder if he will keep Leppa and Lambert as assistants. Hope he gets rid of Rehn for maybe Keating as ruckcoach.

Great players dont always make good coach's. i think this may be a bad move considering Michaels limited coaching experience. Maybe a job as an ass. coach may have more suited for a few more seasons then throw the role his way.

Great players RARELY make good coaches. Leigh Matthews is the exception rather than the rule.

I think it's only a poor decision at this stage because they really needed to take stock of what what direction they need to take and then go through the process of seeking the very best person for the job. This appears from the outside to be a knee-jerk reaction and an attempt to hang onto the glory days of the early 2000s. You never know, Voss may do a very good job, but there may be someone out there who could do better.

Brisbane Lions. Where are the crumbing forwards? Corrie and Hooper need to do much more. You not going to make the finals with two goalkickers. I reckon Hawker is OTM in regards to 'hanging on to the glory years' as well.

I can think of an obvious exception ... Don Scott. Great leader but a stinking coach.

Also Tony Shaw, a Collingwood champion, was a flop as coach of the Pies.

With Voss being appointed I was initially a bit worried about the ole familiarity breeding contempt issue but it seems he is not going back to be everyone's best mate. At the press conference Voss said referring to the player list "What player 38 does and what Jonathan Brown does, I expect the same"
That's a good sign!

Maybe, but let's face it, you're not going to get anywhere near as much out of player 38 as Jon Brown, so I would be a little worried by that comment.

I like Voss, and I don't mind the Lions, so I hope he does well. I was interested in comments from Akermanis last night about this topic. People can think what they like about Aker, but he does know the people involved very well.

Aker said that Leppitsch is a domineering type who could easily take advantage of Voss' good nature and he wondered if Voss would have full control of the team, some of whom actually played with both. (And for the record, Aker was NOT suggesting that Voss shouldn't be coach).

I really hope for the Lions' sake that they've thought this one through.
