GF predictor

Postby Booney » Mon Aug 25, 2008 9:07 am

With a round of meaningless matches to go (other than sorting out the final spots in the 8 ) what are your predictions for Grand Final day.

For mine, the only chance of Geelong not winning again is if a Southerly freezes the peninsula over and they cant get to Melbourne.

For me,Geelong will play Hawthorn and the Kangaroos will give one of them a shake up Prelim final day, perhaps Geelong just to pi55 them off like Port did late last year.Look out Hawthorn.

Bulldogs,Sydney and Adelaide not good enough and St's,Collingwood are making up the numbers.

Perhaps the Cats can start printing the t-shirts now?

interesting how the last round pans out, every team in the 8 except for the Dogs and crows play teams in the bottom 8, AFL wouldnt be happy!

good thing about the Roos playing Geelong in Week 1 of the finals is they then head to the other side of the draw where the Bullies and Hawks await :D

My October pick of Geelong to beat Adelaide looks a little skew-whiff, so I'll change it to Geelong over Footscray by 45 points.

We can't have Collingwood get near the GF (obvious reasons), St Kilda (see my signature), Sydney (for murdering the chances of attractive football each week) nor Hawthorn (arrogant bay-sterds).

I can handle Geelong, Footscray, North and Adelaide (for not being Victorian) winning, but let's be fair dinkum, Geelong are a world ahead of the pack with 20/21 and deserve it.

The Bulldogs are 5hite. What made them such an improved side earlier in the year was that they improved their 'inside' game. From what I saw against Essendon this malady has not been remedied. Not enough smothering, shepparding, tackling and running to create. Throw in a very bunch of selfish forwards and that means out and straight sets.

I just love people who still belive in "sure things" and "certainties" in sport. History is littered with instances of red hot favourites getting done on the day, and this may be one such occasion. Never count your chickens until they are hatched.

I think the dogs will go in straight sets and Adelaide/Kangaroos will be the dark horse to play Geelong in the GF.
A winner never quits and a quitter never wins.. So who came up with the saying quit while your ahead.

Yes, maybe an Adelaide/Kangaroos combined team will have a good chance of making the GF :)

AH, it's not worth bothering. You will never convince otherwise those who have already made up their minds that Geelong can't be beaten. Sure they are the best side by a fair way but that does not mean they will even make the GF let alone win it. Obviously they are highly likely to do so but it is not a fait à compli.
