Dont talk too soon. Anything can happen when the Magpies are involved in September.
I guess you wouldn't know though after watching Sturt play marbles in September for so many years.

Is it just me or has Sturt played finals in nearly every year since 1997. And come on, my comments about airports, dogs and Brogan is light humour, if you're going to get serious and precious about that then you're as frail as the bloke I had the pleasure to meet at the Bowling club last week.

The thing is, is that Sturt supporters crap on about this stuff just about every day on here, i would have thought that in order to do that they would be coming from some type of position of strength, real strength, and not playing "finals nearly every year since 1997" which wouldn't surprise me, it coincided with the weakening of the comp through a second SA club entering the AFL. Too bad they weren't competitive at all for the preceding 8 or 9 years.

As for being "precious" well, as i said, i see this on here every day. Its obvious from some bitter and twisted posts on here that Sturt is still hurting that they didn't maintain their status as one of the big clubs of the league for the next 30 years after the 1960's. Occasional bouts of success here and there, but any success overshadowed by considerable periods of mediocrity and "inappropriateness" 8)

GWW, that last post wasn't directed towards anyone specificaly, and I don't think that Sturt supporters "crap on about this stuff", what ever "this stuff" is, all that much, infact I actually have a bit of regard for PAFCAFL1997-... and wanted them to win last year and there is, at the moment abit of a tie between Sturt and The Power, abit of common interest if you want.
Anything that I've said on this forum recently is also coming from following AFC and taking the piss, it's light hearted!
Sturt did maintain it's dominance after the 60's with mutiple premierships and finals apperances, we lapsed in the late 80's and 90's and that is something we'll all wear. The weakening of the comp in '97 is a cop out as we were all on the same, even playing field, so that's crap!
Credit me for my insightful humour anytime you feel up to it. You know it's funny!

Aww i'm feeling your love for Port Adelaide now, i dont know what to say

I have noticed a lot of Sturt supporters revel in what they see as a languishing PAFC, AFL version, as well as the newly created SANFL version, and as such i always feel the need to fight a bit of fire with fire 8)

Too bad you didn't make it 6 in a row 8) or continue on with it throughout the 80's and 90's, would have liked to have returned the favour but those Double Blues boys were too busy with their wooden implements

Is it just me (and the Coopers) or does Fos strike a resemblance (or vice versa) to Bruce McAvaney in that photo? :D

Just had to spit that last remaining tooth out didn't you GWW! Joking!
And it's not only Sturt supporters revelling in PAFCAFL1997&PAFCSANFL1870's, (wouldn't want to get them confused), demise recently...everyone does, we like to share!
My references to "Sturt Envy" is something that came to mind when listening to ABC radio during a call of the footy a few years ago and Stephen Williams was commentating. He mentioned the '76 SANFL GF and just how devostated he and his brothers were at the end result, tears were mentioned, then I started thinking that such a scar must still remain to some degree and here we have it festering in the now PAFCAFL1997- as compared to the PAFCSANFL1870... how else would any other team come by teal as a colour? I think Barto had it right before. So while your mob were revelling in our downfall back then we revel in both of yours now, the only difference is that we do it with more class!
And I was being serious before about wanting to see Power win last year but they let me down and cracked any goodwill I had for them, going from your reply, well, I guess that's what I deserve when I'm trying to be rational with a Port Supporter.
I've worked down in the boatyards at Swampland for the last 11 years so I know how selective Port supporters can be...especially when it comes to history. One thing I learnt from last weekend....never wish a Port fan luck when it comes to footy, you'll just get abused, even from 60 year olds...class pure class.

Oh come on mate, just when us Port and Sturt fans started being civil to each other

I'm not sure one game, being 76 was responsible for Port's downfall, i don't think there was a downfall if you consider 77, 79, 80, 81, 88, 89, 90, 92, 94, 95, 96...and 98 and 99 with the new entity, PAMFC. And the club has subsequently gone onto the AFL, having played in 2 grand finals, for 1 flag in 12 years, if you call that collective success a "downfall" i'm not sure i'm seeing it the same as you 8)

If we won 8 spoons, well thats just getting to unchartered waters, even for the likes of South and Woodville

Brad Hardie was going on about it on 6PR last night. Said there is a lot of ill feeling between the Port hierachy and Brogan and the he wants to head to Melbourne.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Yes GWW it was a fleeting moment, like a shooting star, but like all shooting stars they burn out. Let's just forgive each others' insanity and go back to despising each others' teams.

At least Port didn't sack Fos after that effort, unlike the Double Blues who gave the DCM to Keane in the late 80's, didn't that turn out to be a great decision
