ok, that explains the (nearly) murder charge (even though there's no corpse), how are you gonna work the rape charge into it?
"shaggers" could've killed someone in the portaloo...

all these declared moral crusaders... hope you keep up the good fight all the time & remain consistent

Collingwood FC should be left to deal with Didak as they see fit, the Police to deal with him as they see fit.
Move on, nothing more to see.

I think the media knew they had the club by the curlies and let the lads spin their story at the press conference anyway. They had already confirmed Didak's involvement by speaking with the owners of the parked cars.

The entire leadership group stood behind Shaw at his press conference while he lied through his teeth for his "mate". Scott Burns took the journos to task when they asked about Didak.

So the lads have hung their club out for ridicule and the club won't stand for that.

Didak has to go if he's found to be the "brains" behind this cover-up plan. To go to those lengths, Didak must have something to hide.

Punky, you are right to say that incidents happen at all clubs and it's part of the culture of the game that MUST change at AFL level. How many of the Olympians will be out on a bender 5 days before their event? How many beers did Cadel Evans sink 5 days before the tour de France? Some of these guys are holding themselves out as elite athletes but conducting themselves as tho they are playing Amatuer league. (no disrespect to the AL - just saying that there are ways you can play footy and get on the pi$$ every week, if that's what you want).

In both the Shannon Grant incident and the Collingwood boys, I would rather be in the parked car than the tipped portaloo.

c'mon Dutchy Brayshaw... you're drawing a very long bow with grouping what happened in with Rape & Murder- now you're suggesting anything that involves the Police falls under one big umbrella? Does that mean we now suggest they may have committed (or near enough) an Armed Robbery?

C'mon Punky, you're defending the indefensible mate.
As much as this situation sucks for the club (including the cheap shots that will fly), the players have made their bed mate.
It sucks but we have to wear it.

The point I've been trying to get across all along, is that Collingwood are not unique in having this happen to them- this is a social issue more than a Collingwood one.
Unfortunately, there are morons who see this more as a chance to get a cheap shot in on Collingwood, than look at the bigger picture.

I'd rather wear a charge of "defending the indefensible" than leave a mate posted.

Like I said earlier Punky, 'let he who is without sin cast the first empty beer bottle they can find under their driver's seat'. Who among us hasn't driven over the limit.

Although it isn't new for others to revel in the misfortune of Collingwood and its players.

Agree most clubs have had problems, but add this incident to the others below in the past 5 years and Collingwood top the ladder with the WCE.....

In 2004, then Magpies ruckman Cameron Cloke was fined $10,000 by the club for speeding.
A year earlier midfielder Dane Swan was found guilty of affray.
And 2006 was a particularly colourful year for the club, with Chad Morrison booked for drink driving, Brodie Holland found guilty of driving without a licence and pleading guilty to assaulting a woman in a fight over a taxi and Didak being charged with drunk and disorderly.
Ben Johnson and then forward Chris Tarrant were also involved that year in a vicious brawl that left one man unconscious and led to a police investigation.
Earlier this year, Sharrod Wellingham cost the club a major sponsorship with the Transport Accident Commission after he was caught drink driving.

There is obviously a problem with Collingwood players and alcohol that should have been knocked on the head a few years back.

Didak should be out - this is his third stirke, after the drunk & disorderly charge and the incident last year with certain undesirables. Third strike that the public is aware of anyway...

Having said that, this isn't an issue that just concerns Collingwood, but all clubs. It is about time AFL players (not all, but some) stop whinging about the pressures placed on them to become perfect role models within the community and realise they HAVE to be, whether they like it or not.

Finally, good to see a club get tough!

Shaw, Didak suspended for season
August 05, 2008 - Foxsports
HEATH Shaw and Alan Didak have been suspended by Carlton Football Club for the remainder of the season.

Shaw was involved in a car acident and returned a blood alcohol level of 0.14 and was charged with drink driving.

Shaw initially told the club that Didak was not in the car at the time of the accident but new evidence has shown he was a passenger in the car.

The fine of $10,000 remains for Shaw and Didak has received a $5000 for his part in the incident.

Ryce Shaw has also been suspended for two weeks and fined $5000 for his part in the drinking session on Sunday night.
