North are rubbish, too many garbage players.

Gallman, McIntyre, Ebert, Pfeiffer, I could go on and on. These are just examples of average players who won't really do anything to benefit the team. Ebert finds the footy but gee he's another one of these good ordinary players.

You're spot on in regard to Ricky Ebert but I don't blame him, I blame the people who select him.
With the others you've mentioned you're off the mark and they are very good young players, have played a lot better than some other higher paid players at the club.

And Allan just re-signed for 3 more years of this! Well done to South, after their year you'd like to see them make the finals but I think they'll fall 2 games short

I see Jarman said he will pick some guys who can kick.

Maybe Marlon will get another chance, hopefully Jarman will learn from south's and start playing the kids where they should be played.

South are to be strongly commended for showing the faith in the kids and having it repaid so well. Redigolo (17), Rolfe (19), Perrey (18), Boyd (19) combined for 82 disposals, and then add Adelaide listed Otten (19) with 24 disposals and there is certainly a blueprint for Clay Sampson to work with in the coming years, provided he can keep as many as possible. Their ability to break the lines at critical times was very important in the clinches and the experience of Torney (27 disposals) and Handby (30 disposals, 14 of these in the 3rd term) topped it off neatly.

Couple of stats from the match:

- D. White, Alleway and Stewart combined for 36 marks for North. North actually took 20 marks in their attacking 50, compared to 9 for South), as well as winning the inside 50's 52-43.

- South won the centre breaks 13-10, but were able to take more marks in their defensive 50 (22-16).

- Despite James Allan's 29 disposals, he did not take a mark on the day. In contrast, Clint Alleway's first 10 disposals - all kicks - all came from marks.

I reakon I saw at one point when Alleway was kicking for goal that he had taken 14 marks and had 14 kicks...sensational lone-hand effort by the big man...

South were very impressive. Boyd, Otten and the handy ruckwork of Craig Parry were sensational...Jason Torney was every bit the best player on the ground IMO, and Handby got a lot of it, though I don't think his possessions were as damaging as they could have been...

Torney reminds me of the player that Ben Nelson is for Sturt. Tough, uncompromising, puts his head down and gets right in amongst it...Torney brings his teammates into the game, and still displays some wonderful acts of courage such as backing into oncoming traffic to take defensive marks at critical stages of matches...I'm a massive fan of this type of player...

I thought South would struggle without Warren or Ellis in the forward line...Turner did very well to kick three (or was it two???) with one of those a big bomb from outside 50.

Too many players for North were not in the contest enough. Younie struggled I thought, as did many of his mates...I thought Jimmy Allan tried hard, as did Alleway, Stewart up forward, and Ricky Ebert put in a good performance, though drifted out of the game in the second half...

The scenes at the final siren, where Clay Sampson indicated to one of his players sitting in front of the coaches box that there was only a matter of seconds left, and then the subsequent celebrations at the final siren, showed that there is a lot of pride and character returning to the SAFC. Sampson was cool and calculated in the post-game interview, which suggests he is expecting a lot more from his side.

Not quite - his eleventh disposal was from a free kick.

They weren't tricking you...but you were also looking after he had taken his 14th mark, and therefore about to have his 15th kick...

I was watching bits and pieces of this game on the tv, hoping South would win to give the Eagles a better chance of keeping their season alive (although I always thought Port and Norwood will be harder to get past than North).

South looked more fluent through the midfield, but North had Alleway keeping them in the game and with Stewart and White also down there, I thought this might be too much for South to handle in the end. To South's credit, their mix of experience and youth wanted the win more. It was the first time I'd taken notice of Boyd, having heard some good reviews. He does look a quality player, the type who may win a Magarey one day. Torney is fantastic for South - not just with his input as one of the best players in the comp, but his leadership and the way he brings others in to the game. South also dominated the ruck.

All seemed at sea with South a couple of months ago, but their supporters must be pleased with the direction of the club at the moment. There looks some real spirit and pride and they are pulling off some good wins with a majority of youthful southern players who will form the back bone of a strong club in the years to come. It will need patience and persistence, but I reckon they might finally have it right.

probably had already taken the mark but yet to have the kick so it was really 15 kicks annd 14 marks after he took the kick

Got a lot of those marks out in no mans land rather than being a real focal point at CHF where he would of had an impact on the result. Guilty of kic chasinng rather than forcing his team mates to use the coridor through CHF.

Rubbish statement - I would hardly include McIntyre in that group or even Gallman for that matter.
