It's always the elderly and the kids

...that receive the wrath of that "security firm" known as Weslo. Now, before I continue, I will gladly retract my statement if this youngster did nothing at all to receive what he allegedly (gotta use that word everywhere) got.

The latest event concerns Ernie Wenske, of all people! Allegedly, he poked a young lad twice - he received a warning once, then did it again later. So, being the heroes they are, they try to escort Ernie out of the ground. But he was going even slower than he normally walks and stopped in front of the Eagles cheer squad. It must have taken them 10 minutes to achieve their "victory" in getting Ernie evicted from the ground.

Now, what I don't understand, is that Ernie is as harmless as a fly. He would only use his flag if he was provoked (which kids do most weeks). Now for this particular boy to get poked twice, he would have had to come back to him and provoke him some more. Ernie gets sick and tired of this happening to him, so it's no surprise he did what he did.

So, I will have no problems to be corrected if any of this is incorrect, but from what I can gather, this is just another case of this gutless security firm that use their "strength" on easy targets.

Is Ernie the old little bloke that walks in a stutter while stooped over? If so, you gotta love people like that. And there's no way he should've been kicked out, someone should've stepped in.

Yep, the one and only. I think I heard he has only missed a few matches since Woodville entered the League grade in 1964.

Yeh well at the last Sturt game at Woody he gave me a serve while walking past him behind the nthn goals and I think he's great, I tried not to laugh but he's sensational, these sorts of guys are all parts of foundations of our clubs and if he's kicked out by WESLO I hope your club makes an official complaint. Talk about society getting too precious!

An absolute disgrace, old Ernie wouldn't hurt a fly.

I hate to bring up the incident but Weslo saw a fight at Elizabeth a couple of years ago when I was last there, when I talked to Kris Grant the next week he told me Weslo hadn't reported anything (this was despite Weslo getting police involved and getting the bloke kicked out). It would be a high priority of security firms to report any incidents and if they don't even do that right you've got to wonder how competent they are.

Time to get Sundowner security at the SANFL and turf out Weslo.

The thing is, Ernie gets picked on; and as I said, he gets unhappy. How else would he go about it? If he asked them to go away, they don't - trust me, I've seen it before.

I used to live in Glenhuntley St, Woody South, and Ernie used to shuffle past my house a couple times a week.

Often I said hello, if I was out the front, and he'd give me a grunt and keep shuffling

Tried to have a chat a few times, but couldn't catch him.....

A couple of years ago at Wodville Oval some teenagers (who it turned out were Eagles supporters and friends of Eagles under age players) were handing out some horrible taunts to old Ernie for no other reason than the fact he is intellectually disabled. A number of Eagles people standing by (who I assume were regulars each week) did nothing. I went down to the group and gave them a serve. They then turned their abuse on me. Myself and another NGS friend then grabbed 2 of these clowns and turfed them out of the ground which for some "strange" reason put the fear of god into the others and they moved away from Ernie.

He'll be at the underage game next weekend against Sturt. I dare Welso to evict him out of the game.
