we will try and hold onto it again next year..

Stampy, I really did enjoy todays game, and not just because South won, both teams had a real dip, the tackling was ferocious by both teams, the pressure by players created mistakes, there were plenty of one on one plays, all the thing that we like about a game of footy

Exactly the sort of win the club needed. Well done to Clay on his first win as senior coach, one that wont be forgotten in a long time.

As has been mentioned, South tackled with vigour, ran hard, and for a change, actually converted their forward entries. Was a pretty good standard of footy all day.

As per usual, no South Adelaide lead is ever completely safe, and there were some nervous moments in that last quarter.

Some of the better players imho were Rolfe (super impressive first 1/2 dozen games), Boyd, Parry (spanked Cranston), Prendagast, Otten, while some of the fringe players impressed..turner, williams etc.

The players from the Bays that tend to damage South (Backwell, McConnell, Fisher) were kept quiet.

congratulations to south who decided to actually play 4 quarters

ive previously seen south v norwood and eagles and both games they had under control to let them slip, which almost happened again yesterday as Glenelg got back to within 17 points midway through the last term.

South were committed, hard at the ball, applied good pressure to our players and more imortantly the skill level was not of that of a team sitting 8th on the table. We got slaughtered in the ruck, but it started to swing our way in the last 1/4.

Macca needs to put his body on the line, against sturt he didnt want to do it and again yesterday he had the opportunity to put his body in a position to bottle the ball up but of course he wouldnt want to get the jumper dirty as that would mean it would have to get washed - is there a player that has gone so long without requiring a jumper wash!!!!!!!

not a huge fan of Duldig, but he was our best player and then id say Grima - i think Bayman may have mentioned those 2 and its hard to argue against that.

Congrats to South...looks like the Bays could still have some issues above the shoulders, which is good to find out now, rather than in the finals...I hope our response to another loss to South is similar to our response after the previous loss to them...many of us Bays fans, myself included, have felt that a loss had to come at some point...almost ALL of us would not have thought South could be that team to deliver us that much needed loss, but kudos to the Panthers for beating us in what appeared to be a reasonably good scoring contest, ie. they didn't go ultra-defensive...they beat us at our own game...

Oh hang on, as a frontrunner, I probably shouldn't be commenting at all...I'll be back when we start winning again.

good comment, you guys wanted it more than ours and have hopefully done our club a favour cos its been our ability to be tight and tough that was not evident, as they say the game is played at 90% above the shoulders - something like that anyway :)

It seems bizarre that South is the only side to have beaten Glenelg this season and now on two occassions! Had the Bays not beaten us last time then they could have worn the hallowed "bitches" tag but those are the breaks I suppose!

I am not trying to have a go at Glenelg supporters, yet its probably not unreasonable to suggest that Glenelg arrived for the game brimming with confidence in anticipation of an easy win and perhaps even a little overconfidence which I feel led to South getting the jump on them.

People probably do not really understand the pressure that South Coach Clay Sampson has been under in recent weeks and I feel that yesterdays result happened because some of the players at South decided to get back their form under Jack Cahill and have a real dip for their coach.

I wont be getting to carried away at this stage, South have an awful long way to go to become a side that is consistantly competitive, yesterday was a step in the right direction, now lets hope the team can build on that and really do something towards moving forward!

South were good!
Glenelg were ordinary.

Half way through the last quarter when the bays made a charge, I actually thought it would probably be better for us to lose this one than win.
Time will tell, if i'm right.

Well done South, a great win.

Subpol I thought we were shown up in that area by South, the pressure they created and the consequential loss of structure by our players - chasing the footy and South players that left South players free. We didn't show South teh appropriate respect, plsome palyers hung abck waiting for the ball to come to come to them while South players actively chased and attacked teh footy - more so than us. This combined with our players trying to take South players on rather than give the first give to players running past meant we coughed up teh footy.

Good to get that loss out of our system and have these problem identified now so we can correct them with our run into teh finals.

As I've said all year we are not that bloody good that we can take any team lightly.

Well done South Adelaide

This may be harsh but I think one of the golden rules in footy or sport in general is to respect your opposition. I feel that Glenelg failed dismally in this area on Saturday.
South had four 19 year olds, one 18 year old and one 17 year old in the side on saturday. Three of the above,Boyd, Redigolo and Rolfe would have been high in Souths best players.Heartening signs for the future.
