R16 glenelg v south review

Postby bayman » Sat Jul 19, 2008 5:53 pm

with the round 1 result i said that glenelg were not switched on, i can not say that today as we were prepared to play, south also came to play & the played very well especially parry who slaughtered cranston in ruck, boyd dominated & rolfe finished off well with 5 goals, warren wasn't in his usual main go to man game but still managed 4 goals, torney was very good in defence, glenelg started well with the first 2 of the game but after that south were the better team on the day (all day) despite the last term comeback

on what i saw today south are not the 2nd worst team in the league as their game plan, tenacity & committment are definately better than that & clay has something definately to work with

i thought duldig was good early & grima in the 2nd half as for other bay players that went ok (in patches) bode, sherwood & kirkby
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Unbelievable! Upset of the seaason without any shadow of a doubt. What went wrong for the Bays? How can a team play as insipidly as South did against Sturt and then come out and knock off the top of the ladder side?

Is Clay Sampson the Messiah???

What is quite amazing is that the only two clubs outside the top 3 who have beaten either Sturt, Glenelg or Central won't be participating in the 5 this year. And each of the upsets have been huge ones.

I'd put that down to last placed West beating top placed Port in 2006.

Can't disagree with you Bayman, particularly given the Panthers recent form...

south thoroughly deserved their victory, we were ordinary to say the least, where can i hide? - but that would be pw, some will say its the loss we had to have which is utter crap, a bit of work to do at brighton road, quite simply we cannot afford another loss if we have any aspirations to finish minor premier - on that rubbish dished up today we dont deserve it, hopefully the boys will lift and come out and dish it up to the legs next week

So has South against you guys. ;) Plus, three cents - anything under $1.10, even $1.20 is out and out favourites.

Being a South supporter is not easy. You see some disastrous performance quite regularly, but every now and then someone flicks a switch and you see a performance like I witnessed today- which makes all the pain worthwhile. :D
The South Adelaide team that took the field today was committed, to the last man.The coach designated players to shadow some of the Bays chief playmakers and they did there jobs very well. Sampson is to be congratulated on his first win as well as his outstanding game plan.
Players such as Rolfe (5 goals), Boyd, Redigolo, Carrol, Turner and Crabb play with courage and pride beyond their young inexperienced years. They are exceptionally important to the future of the SAFC lets hope we can hang onto them and find a few more like them. I thought Parry was exceptional in Ruck and in the first half particularly dominated.Torney was superb in defence and Warren (4 goals) who strangely started on the bench, and Otten were also very good. :D :D :D

give me a B......

South aren't quite there yet, but LOL at a Sturt fan talking about Bitchdom

Full credit to South. Well done. The game was over at half time for mine.

South far to desperate and hungry. Thank god they aren't playing finals.

Time to regroup Glenelg and get the hunger back....

Nothing. The last 8 matches have gone: Glenelg, Glenelg, South, South, Glenelg, South, Glenelg, South.

Congratulations to South and to Clay Sampson, winning today against the league leader after a belting last week shows guts and character that they can hopefully keep up for the rest of the year and go into next year with more positives than all the negative crap from this year.
