Kangas 30-10 Cally 9-4. Cally kicked 6 goals in the first quarter and were up at the first change. The rest was embarassing. Red Barnett watched the game from the sidelines. Word around the ground was that Callington are heading to River Murray next year. It seems that no attempt has been made to obtain feedback from their supporters, with the majority vowing to abandon ship when this happens. Wonder if Corey Smelt a rat?

Theres an article in the local Murray Bridge newspaper about Callington approaching the RMFL about joining that league. The RMFL will only want Callington if they can be competitive in all 4 grades, and be able to enter netball teams as well. Is this likely? And do they have quite a few locals in their senior grades in the footy, or do they rely primarily on imports?

Cally rely almost solely on imports. Only 3 locals in the A's today as far as I know with just a handful in the B's. Apparently Cally feel they can field the numerous netball teams required as there are allegedly dozens of girls at the Bridge not getting a game. Many of Cally's imports come from that area also. Given that, I don't believe the move is viable. What's the point? And will their Adelaide players be prepared to drive to Meningie when many couldn't be bothered with the trip to Kersbrook? Will the Bridge girls be bothered travelling 25kms to train? And who is going to engineer all this when very few existing Committee members actually do any work now?

Good post Crumber.

Given those circumstances i reckon the RMFL may block the move, especially after what happened previously with the MB Redlegs.

I heard the RMFL is ordinary but I didn't know it revolves around Netball.

It doesn't revolve around netball, its just one part of the whole equation.

Kersbrook by 10 goals over Nairne
21 goals to 11

Some Kersbrook players looked a little out of form due to 3 week lay off but with
Brett James missing after half time
Pollock not playing (as Norwood would not clear him but available from now on)
Soden not playing due to soreness
Rob Nicholsen missing due to work commitments
and Roger James still to come in
Things look promising for the remainder of the year

Thanx GWW. I just don't think the Engine Room at Callington has done its' homework. There are so many areas to consider. Apparently netball participation is a requirement and they will need to find 90 girls. Yet the Netball Club at Cally folded a few years back because they couldn't find numbers and no-one wanted to coach or hold an office on committee. There were concerns re travelling when all Netball went to Woodside, so what's changed?

Football wise, a lot of their motivation to move seems to relate to the relationship (or lack thereof) the Eagles have with the HFL. Certainly most clubs in this zone are disillusioned with the HFL also, but the Eagles need to realise the RMFL won't put up with their shennanigans either. The penalties for misdemenours will be the same, just discussed and dealt with more professionally.

Admin-wise, many present committee members are saying 'never again'. Just where will all the engineers come from after the initial sparks of enthusiasm wear off. Which makes it all go full-circle and the Redlegs are back.

The Sorce wrote:Tips for this round should be interesting.

Torrens Valley Vs Maccy - TV by a 25 + goals
Meadows Vs Nairne - This is the game of the round will be a very hard fought contest I'm going with Nairne - Have played some very good footy the last couple of weeks and are so close I think.
Echunga Vs Kangy - Close one again Depends on if it is Raining and if Echungas New recruits play and if Ty Habner isn't at Sturt I would say Echunga May come close.
Gumeracha Vs Callington - Cally by 10 goals +

And also expect Kersbrook to loose a couple in the coming rounds..... I wouldn't be suprised if Nairne beat Kersbrook next week.

Hmmmm.....Not one of your better posts Sorce.....Nairne to beat Kersbrook?? WTF?? Even with some big guns out, the Brookers easily despatched the Rams by a 11 goals. With Pollock looking to play next week, it will be a tough ask for the Deez. Still reckon the game at Kangy will be the Brookers biggest challenge.

Word has it, that Hills Football Legend Kym Pearce is playing his last game of Football for Kersbrook against Mt.Lofty C grade today. At the young age of 51, and still to the surprise of many, it looks as if Father time may finally have caught him. The great man has achieved nearly eveything in Hills Footy, Playing in Premierships, Coaching the Club, Winning Mail Medals and now being the President. Not sure too many blokes have coached 5 flags in a row, which is exactly what Kersbrook B's did in the 90s. Kym will finish very close to 500 senior games for the Brookers and has Trevor MacDonald (450) and John MacDonald (483) covered as the Clubs longest serving player. =D>

Another whisper is that Big Slim (Nick Johns) could be retiring after today's Super C grade game as well.

I think all HFL country clubs should support Cally move to go to RMFL..

a lot less hassle for HFL directors!!!

Brookers odds on favourites to win the GF..

Nairne did win 2 quarters and did have two ball players missing..but the brookers have 2 many class acts.

Again the failure of the HFL pionts system was obvoius.
