Most of us are also so far removed from the players, their stages of development, what they've been instructed to work on etc, that we perhaps overlook the fact that sometimes playing a kid before he's ready can do more harm than good (Ill admit that sometimes it can have the opposite effect).

I just get so frustrated with seeing other teams playin there higher draft picks from day 1 and we are reluctant to play our higher draft picks straight away !!!

Yeah it can get extremely frustrating. Like that stat from about halfway through last year how Meesen, Pfeiffer and Sellar were the only first round picks from their drafts not to have played yet.

Dropped from the Bays

not suprised

reckon he will get delisted at end of year, but still young enough to go on rookie list so i reckon that will be the trade off

Hard to know, was touted as the No. 2 draft pick but then everyone went cold on him and Crows thought they had a bargain picking him up in the teens...maybe the other teams got it right?

i genuinely hope he makes it but from what we have seen to date he wont, just doesnt have the footy brain IMO and time wont improve that....reckon the crows will persist with him (rookie maybe 2009), as i said I hope Im wrong as he is a great lad

Had over 20 possies in the Ressies and probably needed a full game which he wasnt getting in the A's at the Bays...

Coming from a Bays supporter? I agree with your post above that he seriously lacks footy smarts and has no natural forward instincts, a concern. The Crows however will not delist him, no way.

If he is still a long way off AFL but they believe he has a future why wouldnt they delist him and put him on the Rookie list? Allows them to list someone who may have an impact in '09

The reason would be that they would be concerned another club would draft him before they get the chance to, and in doing so it would be a complete waste for the Crows given they picked up him up as a first rounder 2 years ago.

Because another club would take him in the main draft, if not the main draft then the PSD, and if not either of those two then the picks in the rookie draft before the Crows. If they believe he has the future then why WOULD they delist him? He would be claimed wlel before the Crows get a chance to select him in the rookie draft.

no other club would be stupid enough to pick him up in the draft anyway. honestly can't see him going anywhere else. If we wanna keep him put him on the rookie list

I think Sellar will be a reasonably good player longer term, if he stays fit, and if he matures a bit and develops the motivation to put in consistently and prove himself worthy of selection by consistent performance at SANFL level.

Unlikely but still a possibility.

I reckon they'll sign him for 1 more year and if he doesn't show improvement seriously consider delisting him then.

People obviously have no idea how long it takes KPP's to develop. I'm not saying I'm even confident Sellar will make it but look at the fellow KPP taken from the 2006 draft, how many have made it yet? Are they going to be delisted too?

There seems to a huge gap forming between Walker and Sellars abilities. Walker continues to kick goals in a side that until now has struggled and Sellar is having trouble getting a game in Glenelg's seniors, I hope Sellar can turn it around but at the moment it's black and white.
Off Adelaide's list at the start of the year.
James Sellar 196cm 95kg 18yrs Goals scored for Glenelg?
Taylor Walker 190cm 87kg 17yrs 37 goals for Norwood

Got about 8 weeks to show something IMO

Can't see how anyone can rate this bloke...................looks slow and out of place even at SANFL level.

Same this happened with Porps, his fitness and ability to work hard was questionable when he was first drafted to the Crows which lead yo his delisting. He pulled his socks up and look at him now!!!

Perhaps the same thing can happen to Sellar

James will be at the crows next year. for one he is still contracted. but he wont be at glenelg next year. he needs to go to a club where he will play full forward or centre half forward. eg Port, south or westies. with the forward line the bays have its hard to get a spot.

Every one out there saying that Walker is a better player than him. you cant say that, if walker was at the bays he wouldnt have played a league game yet. and james was just playing as a back up ruckman.
