and that would be the very reason I did not refer to qtrs 2,3 and 4 of the sides recent outing... as it went from very good... to hanging on for dear life near the end. Im not saying Glenelg are insurmountable... or past the post in any match... all I was trying to say is that at times we do have the ability to turn on quality attacking football.

I totally agree Joelie and as I'm sure you will agree, when you guys do turn it on for 4 quarters, even Centrals back at full strength might just find it a bit of a battle against a high flying Bays side. Consistancy is the key for all sporting teams, not just in general, but more importantly throughout the course of an individual game, especially ones played over long periods of time, like Aussie Rules.

I can vouch for this as I haven't seen the Dogs put 4 full consistant quarters of footy together this year, with the closest being 3 1/2 quarters against Port at Alberton back before the State Game. In saying all that though, it's not too often, even winning sides like your mob do put 4 full quarters of footy together. As proven against us, you could do it in pretty much 1 and a bit quarters and still get away with the win. Of course other influences in the game, such as the form of the opposition, playing personell, variable ground conditions etc. can attribute to close to 4 quarters of consistancy a side will get.

It's not too often at all in modern day football that you see a side put together 4 solid 4 quarter efforts. You ask them yoursleves, they'll agree.
In the case with the game in question earlier, Glenelg were great for 1 quarter, okay for another, scrappy for another and pretty poor in the last.
From a Centrals point of view we were terrible in the 1st, shocked in the 2nd, scrappy in the 3rd and pretty awesome in the last just falling short of a mighty come from behind win. I think pretty much Geelong in the AFL are the closest side this year to play 4 consistant quarters.

All it took was for your side to just be that slightly bit more consistant (albeit for maybe just over an extra quarter) and hence the result followed accordingly with your side getting up. Just play more consistanty than what the opposition are on the day and generally you will win. It will be interesting to see what kind of consistancy all sides participating in finals bring to the stage, should make for a ripper finals series...

Not even that mt79...

My case in point in the above thread, I think is pretty accurate. Interested to view your opinion (and of others) in regards to what I wrote. Had been thinking about that for a while and that's what I came up with...

It's more circumstantial on a weekly basis and so many other elements come into affecting whether this actually occurs and clearly, more often than not, not too many clubs get it right for the 4 quarters TOTALLY...
