WEST ADELAIDE’S AARON FIELKE WINS ROUND 14
COCA-COLA STAR SEARCH AWARD NOMINATION
Aaron Fielke from the West Adelaide Football Club has been named the Round Fourteen Coca-Cola Star Search Award nominee.
At 19 years of age, and playing his twelfth League match, Fielke was a standout for West Adelaide in their weekend clash against Central District.
Playing as a half forward and on the ball, Fielke chalked up 25 possessions and kicked 1 goal 1 in West Adelaide’s defeat by the Bulldogs. Fielke’s consistent game, debilitating pressure on his opponents and ability to gain possession of the ball in West Adelaide’s forward line contributed to his impressive match stats.
Making his League debut in Round 17 last year against Sturt, Fielke played just 7 games in season 2007 before heading back to West Adelaide’s Reserves. In season 2008, Fielke has made his way back into the League squad with a further 5 games this season. His performance on the weekend certainly contributes to achieving a permanent position in West Adelaide’s starting line up.
Fielke was recruited from Loxton North Football Club in the Riverland Football League. As cousin to West Adelaide Champion & 1985 Magarey Medallist, Grantley Fielke, Aaron continues the family affiliation with the West Adelaide Football Club. He played a number of games in West Adelaide’s Under 19’s as well as captaining the side in 2007 before progressing into the senior squad.
Aaron Fielke is West Adelaide’s first Coca-Cola Star Search nominee for season 2008.
