on crowd number just saw and add on Fox for 2 NRL games in sydney for $25 they must really be struggling to get people to there games. Are we seeing the end of the NRL a a major sporting comp?

Glenelg supporters have been starved of success in the last 15 years so thats why they have come out . Watch what happens when Norwood become a force , same as Port. Sturt have been good for a while now so their support is strong. As it has been for 50 + years these clubs are the big 4 who when up there will bring the crowds. North are OK but must be strong to get the crowds ( and good ones then usually) Centrals are the " modern day" crowd puller but what will happen when ( or if ) they fade ? Did we see a glimpse in the last 2 weeks with crowds? South , Eagles & West have little support. South are the only ones to make some ground there if they are smart enough and blueprint Centrals. Give them time , they have only had about 10+ years at Noarlungs

One thing's for sure there should be no North supporter on here now whingng and moaning and complaining about the Eagles and poor crowd attendances as we have a higher average crowd than them . Not bad considering since we haven't played the best footy this season.

Norths crowd drops dont suprise me one bit, various reasons why.
1) Poor facilities at Prospect
2) Treatment of members by NAFC
3) Poor weather on some of our home games
4) The fact North has only played 1 decent drawing team there in Sturt (played South twice there, West and Eagles twice there!)
5) TV coverage of games due to assisting the ABC with programming and being close by
And most importantly:
6) Beer going up by $1 per can, WTF??

Of course, its all part of some people's efforts at the club who want an excuse to move to Adelaide Oval.

North's Year to date crowd drops, to end of round 13 specifically, only factor in One Eagles Game. We certainly do play twice there before the year is complete. I am surprised that their numbers have dropped below the Eagles though:)

Meanwhile, in a sister newspaper, this article makes a few other statements about North - if some of the questions raised here were raised with Glenn Elliot I'm sure North supporters would have been much more interested in an article like that rather than one which talks about crowd numbers at home games (which still look healthy to me) and what is being said on the Roost (albeit the tamest comments are highlighted as being the tough questions - LOL).

Noone at the club officially reads The Roost, every single one of them seems to know exactly what's on it though.
I even got an official letter from Glenn advising me of what should and shouldn't be on the Roost.
I like the way the Messenger quite often these days address online fan forums as that's where a good feel for an issue can be felt, they did similarly with the South issue earlier in the year with quotes from this site.
Any publicity is good publicity.

PS The article doesn't address the "real" issue, that being that beer went up by 25% this year!

If you think it's not 'rocket science' in what he said, do use your vast Football Operations knowledge and expertise to tell us exactly what he should have said? Then when you supply us with the hidden secrets of your wisdom we will follow Mr. Elliotts words of wisdom and ring the club to pass on your suggestions!

I was actually defending you guys saying that the article had a poor focus and that there were probably some bigger issues that you'd rather hear from the CEO on that why crowd numbers were down an average of 300 per game. I reckon 2,500 is a reasonable home crowd average.

FWIW the irony is that the Squawk family has seen fit to sponsor North and Sturt for many years.

i also believe that quotes were used from Snouts louts in the glenelg messenger in relation to Ben Cousins as well - so like you said wedgie - any publicity is good publicity.

It seems Glenn wants north supporters to have a forum - The Roost - but you MUST say this and noT mention this etc.......

I actually think that the newspaper article offers broader discussion than just crowd numbers and remains worthy of being a stand alone thread, especially when compared to the same paper's comments about North in another edition published across town.
