Williams has said he has plans for Thompson to play a very significant role in Ports 2009 season.

PAFC I'm gathering from your quote being "My lifestyle determines my deathstyle" you're no health or fitness guru, let-a-lone expert, so as I aren't either, I'll just go on each Sturt game I've seen that Thommo has played in, and that would be almost everyone of them, and he's killed it, got in the best players numerous times and kicked numerous goals..probably about 13 in 4 games since he returned from the Power, (haven't researched that mind you). So this doesn't seem like a bloke with groin probs to me.

You're probably right Cutterman, Im no doctor or fitness guru, just a so called expert like the rest of us. My only questioning of this though is there is no reason for Mark Williams to say this if its not true, and he never said Thompson had OP, just early signs of it, and probably thinks there is no point risking his 2009 for no real gain in 2008. For what its worth, i think Thommo should be in the team if he is actually fit. Our midfield needs all the help it can get.

Thats crap, he needs to be rested with that injury for pretty much the rest of the year. OP is something that you cant be runnig on. Even at SANFL speed as Docter Choc tells us.

Didnt say he had OP, just early signs of it. Maybe, maybe not, I was just reporting what was said by somebody who would be more in the know than an ex player.

Ok PAFC but It doesn't really stand up with me, the guy has been playing 4 quarters of footy for weeks now without a problem.
This is my tip, Williams, now that the season is over, will pick Thommo numerous times to prop him up for trade. I hear what you're saying but it doesn't gel.

I think in Tuesday's paper it was mentioned that Thommo was up for trade last year, denied by Port but confirmed by other clubs.

More than likely he was mentioned, but lets be realistic quite a lot of players are mentioned, it doesn't necessarily mean the club will give them up for very little though. Quite often it would be to test the waters to see if a rival club would value the player highly and be prepared to give up someone that the other club (in this instance Port) would really want to recruit.

Not sure what Chocko is on about with the OP stuff but I'd know less, but with or without OP, Thommo had a pretty good game against Wstn Bulldogs, 10 kicks, 10 handballs, 7 marks, 1 goal 1

Channel 10 has just reported that Adam wants out of the Power during trade week. Has not named a desired location yet. Hopefully the Crows can find room for him!

From what I've seen of him on TV I would imagine the Crows would look at him. He can join Symes in a happier place perhaps.

Whoever gets him will pick up a ready made AFL footballer with plenty of run left in the tank after limited opportunities with the Power.
Well done Port.

I sat and had a chat with Thommo during a social bowls match when Port were up here two years ago and I was very impressed by the young chap. Didn't seem arrogant and had a pretty good perspective on things. When I've watched him at SANFL or AFL level, I've wondered why he wasn't getting a shot.
He just does not seem like the sort of lad to step out of line or upset the coach - a good solid, honest player.
I've never understood why he was struggling to get an AFL game.

I have no idea what Chocco is doing. He is contemplating getting rid off a future 200 game player for Josh Carr an older tagge/tough midfielder who i believe can end up in the same mould as a J Carr..... like with symes Port will let him go, they will get very little for him and in a few years they will think sh*t why didnt we get rid of chocco instead

I am friend of an ex player of port and he said as soon as Chocco doesnt like you, you have little chance of getting a fair crack no matter what you do. Once his mind is made up its final

I didnt rate symes and was happy for him to go, he is an outside player and port had too many of that type, and as for thomson ive seen him play a few times at afl level and thought he struggled not clean to pick up the ball and made alot of errors but this could be due to him being a young lad trying to break into the team.

I agree the Power has too many outside players, which is why it is very dependent on S Burgoyne having a good day. Cassisi helps out too. There is a place for the outside player in a balanced team though if they do it well. However, Symes has not been looking like an outside player with the Crows - admittedly I see only what appears on TV..

Symes could be seen as an outside player as he is running half back flanker but i have seen him put his body on the line plenty of times this year when needed to. Im more than happy seeing him in the tri colours. As for Thomo i think he was given little chance and thought that if he stuffs up this he is done so added pressure leads to mistakes.... its the coaching staff that have to show faith to get these kids developing into players not instilling fear of failure.... Under Craig i could see thomo go from strength to strength
