I saw a few undisciplined things from him tonight, as I called it in the live scores thread, he administered an elbow to the throat, a knee in the back and a crude after the disposal tackle/bump. Is this a concern?

It is a sign of a player struggling for fitness with time catching up with him.

It was just plain reckless. Just stupidity at it's best.

He couldn't do anything out there so he decided to be stupid and injure someone.

He is finished, career over!

Bassett's always been a little like that.
He gets the clumsy tag, same as Fletcher.

BTW - FootySmart, your response was totally ott. Pull YOUR head in mate.

Footy Smart wrote:Your an idiot HOF thats the way he plays if you took your head out the sand for a second he is unco but tough, no frills footy at its best. Yes he will get reported but the contact to the throat was less than buddy(minimal), knees in the kidney was reckless but accidental and made contact with corrie after he tried to smother the ball after corrie handballed it then tried to protect himself. Have fun playing for draft picks you pin head

The problem is he's not Buddy & the inconsistant tribunal will make a fool out of themselves once again & find Bassett guilty & suspend him for 2games.

So being "tough" is being dirty? because what i saw tonight from him tonight was pretty piss poor. He has been a very good player over the years but i sense he is coming to an end. Hasn't been playing that well.

By the way don't post at 1:03am when your pissed after the crows losing, cause your just embarrasing yourself.

not only will the tribunal give him a little holiday but when he comes back from suspension he should reaquaint himself with Coopers Stadium because that is the only place he should be plying his trade now.He is past it at AFL level.

Reckon if some people at Coopers Stadium have their way he could be doing more than just playing for them, possibly as early as next year

Now that he has been suspended for 1 game, he might pull his head in!

What a dumb thread this is turning out to be. Bassett is a very good player who is far from being finished. The week off will do him good and then he will return to his important place in one of the best backlines seen in the AFL over the past 5 or so years.

Bassett has been an excellent player over the years. I support Norwood and the Crows and have always been supportive of his worth as a player. However, he does seem to be struggling to maintain full fitness this year, and I am concerned he may be reaching his limit as Ben Hart did. The Crows tendency to play injured players prematurely is a concern too, and I supect he may benefit from more time to recover, but I am not sure 2 weeks is enough.

The lack of forwards who can take a contested mark is a problem, as trying to play around that deficit does put a huge load on the midfield and other running players.

The role Bassett has played for some years now has been to cover for McLeod and Johncock when they chose to run, this making mobility his greatest asset, this is rapidly fading with age as it does to us all.Perhaps a more defined role in defence where he plays on some one instead of floating may prolonge his career.

IMO,it would be a liability to have him on the list next year.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
